Su Wan took the City Key and stored it in her system space before continuing her input.
When only a few characters were left, Su Wan made another demand: Pei Su must announce the decision to transfer management authority of the Outer City to her to the entire Panshi City.
She wanted everyone in Panshi City to know that the Outer City was now under Su Wan’s control.
Pei Su’s anger surged within him, but his face remained peaceful. His eyelids flickered slightly before he instructed his secretary, “Prepare the transfer documents.”
A few minutes later, the internal power transfer documents exclusive to the City Defense Force were placed before Su Wan. They were in duplicate and already bore the official seal of the City Defense Force.
After confirming everything was correct, Su Wan signed her name.
Pei Su also signed and applied the seal of the City Defense Force Commander.
Su Wan took one copy, while Pei Su kept the other.
【Ding! Outer City control transfer complete!】
【Current Authority: Supreme Manager of the Outer City!】
Only then did Su Wan pick up the tablet, explaining as she filled in the remaining codes.
“Butler-C1 is primarily responsible for tenant registration; its code prefix is DJ-01.”
“Butler-C2 is responsible for supply management; its code prefix is WZ-02.”
“Butler-C3 is responsible for facility maintenance...”
“Butler-C4...”
Once she finished, Su Wan placed the tablet on the table.
“Commander Pei, these codes represent the core management authority of Terminal Station.”
“With them, you will have complete control over all the robots at Terminal Station.”
“Now that I have handed them over to you, our cooperation is officially established.”
Pei Su’s gaze fell on the screen, and the smile at the corners of his mouth gradually deepened.
He did not reach for the tablet, instead leaning back in his chair with his hands crossed over his knees. “Miss Su, it is a pleasure doing business with you.”
Su Wan looked at him and smiled slightly. “A pleasure indeed.”
With the business concluded, Su Wan decided to take her leave.
Pei Su looked at the tablet on the table, a flicker of indiscernible coldness flashing in his eyes.
Seeing Su Wan stand up, he chuckled.
“Miss Su, there is no need to be in such a hurry. There is one more thing...”
Su Wan raised an eyebrow. “Oh? And what might that be?”
Pei Su spoke unhurriedly. “Miss Su, with so many codes, are you certain you haven't misremembered or entered any of them incorrectly?”
Su Wan smiled at his words. “Commander Pei, are you... saying you don't trust me?”
Pei Su shook his head, his tone gentle.
“It is not a lack of trust, Miss Su, but these codes are of great importance. Even the slightest error could lead to unimaginable consequences.”
“I must verify the authenticity of these codes before I can be at ease...”
“Let Zhao Lei in.”
As soon as Pei Su finished speaking, a man in his early thirties pushed the door open and walked in.
He was of average build with ordinary features and steady eyes.
Su Wan’s mental power swept over him, confirming that he was not an Ability User, but merely a physically strong ordinary human.
Zhao Lei walked up to Pei Su and gave a respectful military salute.
“Commander.”
Pei Su nodded and introduced him to Su Wan. “This is Zhao Lei, one of my most trusted technicians within the City Defense Force.”
“He knows various control systems like the back of his hand, especially when it comes to passwords and codes. He is very experienced.”
“I will arrange for people to send him to Terminal Station as quickly as possible to verify these codes.”
“Only once the codes are confirmed to be correct will our cooperation be officially finalized...”
“Miss Su, what do you think of this proposal?”
Su Wan cursed the old fox inwardly, but her expression remained unchanged.
“Commander Pei makes a valid point. However, the Cold Wave is coming soon. I would like to know how long it will take for Zhao Lei to complete the verification?”
“I don’t have that much time to waste.”
“Rest assured, Miss Su. It will only take twenty minutes. You won't have to wait long.”
Pei Su turned to Zhao Lei. “Go. Pick a few sets of codes to verify.”
“Remember, do not damage the facilities at Terminal Station. We are only confirming the authenticity of the codes.”
Zhao Lei nodded, turned, and walked out quickly.
Silence returned to the meeting room.
Pei Su leaned back in his chair, squinting at Su Wan with a faint, lingering smile.
Su Wan sat calmly in her chair with her eyes closed, appearing to be resting, but she was actually communicating with the Central Hub.
“Central Hub, immediately exchange for several terminal controllers from the System Mall and place them in the core control room.”
“Additionally, move all equipment related to the control system to that room as well. Make it indistinguishable from any other control room.”
【Command confirmed. Exchanging terminal controllers... Exchange complete.】
【Terminal controllers deployed to the core control room. Synchronizing management system interface... Synchronization complete.】
“In a moment, someone from the City Defense Force will enter Terminal Station. Lift the access restrictions and let them in.”
“Once that person is inside, whichever set of codes they input, have the corresponding robot cooperate. Make it look as if the codes are actually controlling them.”
【Understood. All robots will follow your orders at any time.】
Half an hour later, the communicator in front of Pei Su rang.
“Commander, verification complete!” Zhao Lei’s voice came from the other end.
“And the results?” Pei Su asked.
“They are all valid!”
“All ten sets of operating codes selected at random are fully functional!”
“Excellent. Stay at Terminal Station for now and remain on standby!”
The communicator hung up, and Pei Su’s voice was filled with genuine joy as he spoke loudly.
“Miss Su, you truly did not disappoint me.”
Su Wan smiled slightly. “Commander Pei, there was no reason for me to lie about the codes.”
“After all, we are already partners now.”
“Commander Pei, if there is nothing else, I will be heading back.”
Su Wan turned toward the door, but to her surprise, two guards armed with live ammunition blocked her path.
“Miss Su, please stay a moment longer,” Pei Su spoke again.
Su Wan’s eyes sharpened as she turned back.
Pei Su sat in his chair with a leisurely posture.
“Miss Su, you are now a Vice Commander of the City Defense Force. The burden on your shoulders is not light.”
“The Outer City has been handed over to you, but there are many things in the Inner City that you need to understand and participate in.”
“The Cold Wave is nearly here. The relocation of pariahs in the Outer City, the allocation of supplies, and the management of shelters—none of these can be done without your command and coordination.”
“If you leave, who will handle the affairs of the Outer City?”
Pei Su continued, “As for Terminal Station, you needn't worry. Shen Han will handle everything there for you.”
“You should stay here with peace of mind and assist me in handling various matters of the Outer City.”
Su Wan sneered inwardly after hearing this.
It seemed he intended to detain her.
On the surface, he was asking her to stay in the Inner City to assist with affairs, but in reality, he was trapping her here.
Su Wan’s gaze swept across the meeting room.
At some point, Shen Han had moved from behind Pei Su to the door.
She still kept her head down, but her entire body was like a wall, blocking the only exit.
