Chapter 78 | The Apocalypse Landlady

The powerful 【Mental Domination】 ability activated, instantly taking over Xu Tianlin’s shattered consciousness.

Like a marionette, he stood up with hollow, empty eyes.

Ignoring the horrific injuries all over his body, he swayed as he walked to the door. Using his still-intact fingers, he stiffly unlatched the iron chain and opened the door to the secret room.

Through her perception, Su Wan had already seen the rows of closed doors on both sides of the dark hallway.

She followed behind Xu Tianlin, controlling him as he opened every single cell door one by one.

In every room, a girl in tattered clothes was imprisoned.

Their eyes were vacant, and their bodies were covered in a mix of old and new scars.

Most of them were young with haggard faces. Some were no longer fully lucid, clearly having been imprisoned and tortured for so long that they were living in a literal hell on earth.

Xu Tianlin had lured or forcibly abducted all of them through various means. These girls all came from poor families and had no relatives or friends in Jiangcheng. If they went missing, no one would notice for a long time.

Trapped here, they had no one to turn to and no way to escape.

At first, the girls shrank back in terror, but under the soothing influence of Su Wan’s gentle mental power, they slowly began to calm down.

“Don’t be afraid. It’s over now.”

“Come, I’ll lead you out…” Su Wan’s voice was soft, fearing she might startle them.

Finally, the hope of escape and the instinct for survival took over. Supporting each other, they stumbled out of their cages.

They huddled in the corridor, looking at Su Wan and the zombie-like Xu Tianlin with a mix of confusion and a glimmer of hope.

Next, Su Wan commanded Xu Tianlin to take out his phone.

She then forced him to open the video recording function and capture every sin committed in this place.

The imprisonment rooms, the entertainment rooms scattered with unspeakable items, and every hidden corner that recorded his crimes—nothing was left out.

In the video, Xu Tianlin expressionlessly confessed to his crimes.

Once the recording was finished, Su Wan used Xu Tianlin’s email to send the video directly to the Jiangcheng Police Department’s public reporting inbox.

She then controlled him to dial the emergency number, clearly stating the villa’s address and the facts of the imprisonment and abuse.

Having finished all this, Su Wan withdrew most of her mental control, leaving only a small suggestion to keep Xu Tianlin quiet and cooperative.

Xu Tianlin collapsed onto the floor like a pile of mud, letting out only weak moans.

Before long, the piercing sound of sirens approached from the distance, quickly surrounding the Xu family villa.

When the police broke down the doors, they found a trashed main hall and a group of dazed men and women.

They discovered the bloody scene in the underground secret room, the terrified girls being rescued, and Xu Tianlin lying on the ground like a dead dog.

The scene was chaotic, and everyone was taken into custody.

Xu Tianlin was immediately sent to the hospital under strict guard, where the full weight of the law awaited him.

The next day, the shocking scandal of the Xu Corporation’s heir imprisoning and abusing multiple women in his western suburb villa broke. Accompanied by leaked photos of the bloody scene and censored video clips, it hit like a heavy bomb, sweeping through Jiangcheng and the national media.

The Xu Corporation’s stock plummeted the moment the market opened, with its market value evaporating by billions in an instant. Its reputation collapsed completely; partners terminated contracts, banks demanded immediate repayment, and the group fell into an unprecedented crisis.

As for Xu Tianlin himself, as soon as his injuries stabilized, he was transferred to a heavily guarded detention hospital. A long judicial process lay ahead of him.

The rest of his life would be spent either facing a firing squad or behind prison walls, ending in a miserable fate of disgrace and the ruin of his family.

Su Wan had already vanished like a ghost before the police arrived.

She had changed out of her blood-stained coat and wiped away all traces of her presence.

Standing in the distance, watching the flashing police lights at the villa and the bustling media arriving shortly after, there wasn't a single ripple of emotion in her eyes.

Xu Tianlin was only the first.

Gu Huaiyu, Bai Ruochu, and the other hyenas hiding in the shadows… she wouldn't let a single one of them go.

The blood debt of the Su family would be reclaimed by her own hands, one by one!

...

Just moments before the sirens grew loud and the red and blue lights began to flash around the perimeter of the Xu family villa...

A figure as agile as a cheetah slipped silently out of a hidden maintenance tunnel at the side-rear of the villa, quickly merging into the dense shadows of the landscaping outside the estate.

The man was about thirty-five or thirty-six years old, tall and fit, wearing the black suit of a Xu family bodyguard.

His face was ordinary—the kind that wouldn't stand out in a crowd—but his eyes were exceptionally sharp, carrying the indifference of someone who had lived through life and death.

There was a very faint old scar on his left eyebrow, and thick calluses covered the webbing of his right hand and his knuckles—marks left by long-term handling of firearms and cold weapons.

This man was Old K.

He had spent many years drifting along the China-Myanmar border and in certain volatile regions of Southeast Asia. He had been a mercenary and had seen blood; his psychological fortitude far exceeded that of an ordinary person.

But now, he was merely an ordinary bodyguard for the Xu family.

At this moment, he was hidden behind a tall ornamental tree, calmly watching the villa in the distance.

Due to the arrival of the police, the commotion and screams coming from inside the villa were faintly audible, but there wasn't a hint of panic on his face.

It wasn't until he saw Xu Tianlin being carried into an ambulance, the rescued girls being led out wrapped in blankets, and Xu Tianlin’s cronies and subordinates being dejectedly loaded into police cars that Old K’s eyes flickered slightly.

He took out a specially encrypted phone and dialed a number.

The call was answered quickly, and a voice tinged with impatience and anticipation came through. “How is it? Did Xu Tianlin succeed? Is that bitch Su Wan already...”

The voice belonged to Bai Ruochu.

“Miss Bai,” Old K’s voice was low and steady, devoid of any emotional fluctuation as he interrupted her, “there has been a change in plans. Something happened.”

He didn't speak fast, but he laid out everything he had observed with clear logic:

“Xu Tianlin caught Su Wan and locked her in the basement...”

“But things took a very bizarre turn.”

“About half an hour later, Xu Tianlin opened the secret room door, covered in injuries. After that, he released all the other imprisoned girls.”

“I saw through the backup surveillance camera that Xu Tianlin’s state was extremely abnormal. His eyes were hollow, and his movements were stiff, like a marionette.”

“He didn't just release the people; he also used his phone to film the scene, capturing evidence of his own crimes. After that, he called the police.”
