This so-called newbie instance was a bit boring.
Yue Shi strolled into the third-floor storage room as if he were walking through his own backyard.
The storage room contained a ghost and a rusty key.
He casually crushed that crucial key between his fingers.
He couldn't help it; what can you say? He was just a jerk.
The thought of those players risking their lives to break into the storage room only to find absolutely nothing made him want to laugh with delight.
Having dug a massive pit for others to fall into, he prepared to leave the game instance.
Simply walking outward or flying upward would only result in hitting that wall of mist.
Without hesitation, Yue Shi raised his hand. Ripples of spatial energy shimmered at his fingertips as he made a gentle swiping motion.
Sshhh.
A faint tearing sound echoed.
The hospital scene before him was like a painting being violently torn open. The edges curled and shattered, revealing the dark void behind it.
Yue Shi stepped through. Behind him, the spatial rift quickly mended itself, returning to its original state.
This bubble was easy to enter, but leaving it proved to be a bit more difficult.
He was back in that boundless darkness, with countless points of light in the distance.
This place was incredibly vast and empty. Every point of light was likely an independently operating game instance.
Yue Shi thought of the Acrobat. Transcendents were also invited to enter the Supernatural Game Show.
For a game instance like the hospital just now, any transcendent could easily breeze through it as long as their ability wasn't too niche. It was completely effortless.
Would the unknown entity behind the Supernatural Game Show really be so charitable as to give away rewards to transcendents for free?
Certainly not.
The other party would only throw transcendents into far more brutal games.
They would ensure the transcendent was matched with an appropriate level of difficulty.
Yue Shi felt a spark of interest.
Walking as if through a cosmic star map, he began to browse these bubbles with purpose.
He observed the size and luster of the bubbles, as well as their color shifts.
Some bubbles were a dull, lifeless grayish-white. The scene inside was just a single room with only one player.
Some bubbles were vibrant and multicolored, with chaotic light and shadows swirling within.
And then there were those that emitted an ominous aura.
Yue Shi's gaze locked onto one of them.
The color of that bubble was exceptionally heavy—a shifting, swirling mix of dark gold and deep purple.
As he drew closer, he could faintly sense the chaos radiating from within.
“This one will do.”
Yue Shi reached out to touch it again and stepped inside the bubble.
The scene shifted.
The sight before him was worlds away from the hospital.
There was no sunlight. The sky was covered in leaden gray clouds, and a massive light screen floated above.
The air carried a damp, musty smell mixed with a faint scent of rust.
Beneath his feet was an asphalt road, flanked by many leaning, dilapidated, and abandoned buildings.
In the distance stood a towering, rusted metal skeleton, looking like some giant industrial facility that had been left unfinished.
“Post-apocalyptic wasteland style?”
“It looks a bit like the Chaos Zone.”
Yue Shi appeared in the shadows of a narrow alleyway.
He looked up at the light screen in the sky, which displayed text.
【Instance: Dead Silence Corridor】
【Rules:】
1. Area Restriction: Activity is limited to the designated boundaries. Violators will be obliterated.
2. Survival Competition: Total players in this match: 17. Final survival slot: 1.
3. Ability Devour: Killing other players allows for the complete seizure and fusion of all the victim's supernatural abilities.
4. Time Limit: At the end of the 72-hour countdown, if more than one survivor remains, everyone will be obliterated.
5. Interference: “Scavengers” will be randomly generated within the instance to attack players at random.
Five rules. Simple, crude, and utterly brutal.
Yue Shi entered a hidden state and wandered through this high-difficulty game instance.
He soon discovered a player.
A man wearing a tactical vest was crouching behind a section of broken concrete pipe.
The muscles in his arms bulged; he looked very strong.
On the roof across from him, several identical figures hid in a corner, seemingly having already set a trap.
Short roars and screams echoed from the distance.
Followed by a burst of manic laughter. “I’ll be taking your ability now!”
Clearly, Rule 3 of the game was being put into practice.
The players were wary of each other. There were no friends or teammates; every encounter was a fight to the death.
Some set traps, some staged ambushes, and some launched direct frontal assaults.
To survive—and more importantly, to seize the power of others—all sorts of methods were being employed.
Yue Shi could feel the malice: the game's malice toward the players, and the players' malice toward each other.
In truth, this game didn't even need five rules. Rule 3 alone was enough.
Killing someone to gain their ability—if such a thing existed in the real world, humanity would have likely descended into a killing frenzy long ago.
The game did not allow players to just lie down and give up.
Powerful “Scavengers” appeared occasionally, forcing the survivors to keep moving, which made skirmishes increasingly frequent.
Yue Shi watched this gladiatorial slaughter with great interest.
The players' supernatural powers were diverse: creating clones, duplicating items, reflecting enemy attacks, shifting through smooth surfaces...
As he watched, Yue Shi's eyebrows twitched slightly.
Something was off.
Each player's ability was different, but upon closer observation, there seemed to be a subtle connection between them.
Yue Shi opened the third eye on his forehead.
The man in the tactical vest had the ability 【Mirror Shifting】.
He could transfer from one smooth surface to another within his field of vision, somewhat like a spatial jump.
Another player had the ability 【Mirror Clone】, summoning clones that were mirror images of the original body.
There was also a player who could duplicate any item; the things she duplicated were also mirror images.
The first player to be beaten to death had the ability to reflect others' attacks, but unfortunately, he was outnumbered and was the first to be eliminated.
【Mirror Projection】
【Prism Deconstruction】
【Kaleidoscope Reflection】
These abilities all seemed to be related to the core concept of “Mirrors.”
“Seizure and fusion?”
Yue Shi thought of the Bridge, a product created by fusing countless spatial abilities together.
He watched another victor. After killing a player, the information regarding their supernatural ability changed.
The supernatural ability seemed to have been supplemented and completed.
A certain suspicion rose in his mind.
What would the final winner of this game get after continuously killing and devouring everyone else?
A powerful transcendent.
A prototype authority pieced together from seventeen similar abilities?
“Mirrors!”
Yue Shi looked thoughtful. He had previously considered where the abilities of transcendents and supernatural creatures actually came from.
Based on his own experiences...
It might not be all of them, but a portion of transcendent or supernatural abilities must be related to Authorities.
‘It seems this killing game is by no means a random match.’
‘The seventeen players are more like they were deliberately arranged to be together to kill and devour one another.’
‘In the real world, killing a transcendent with a similar ability doesn't allow you to seize their power.’
‘It is the Supernatural Game Show that has established an environment where they can devour each other.’
The master of this forbidden zone was also collecting Authorities?!
