“Lina, take out the 【Shining Twins】; it’s the perfect time for a live combat test,” Zhang Ye said.
Lina nodded, and the white-gold bracers on her arms rapidly transformed into two pistol-style magic devices, which she gripped firmly in her hands.
Across from her, Connor couldn’t help but laugh at the sight. “I say, Lina, what’s the point of bringing out magic devices instead of your Treasure?”
“Are you planning to just stand there and cheer while the monitor fights all of us alone?”
As soon as he finished speaking, several of Connor’s teammates burst into laughter.
In their eyes, the power of a Treasure was definitely superior to that of a magic device. For Lina to pull out magic devices seemed like an act of desperation.
“Maybe you should just step down. Don’t hold the monitor back,” Connor said with a chuckle.
Hearing this, Lina stubbornly tightened her grip on the 【Shining Twins】 and bit her lower lip without saying a word.
“Connor,” Zhang Ye suddenly spoke up.
Connor looked at Zhang Ye, only to find that his expression was incredibly serious.
“What is it, Monitor? I’m not wrong,” Connor said, assuming Zhang Ye was going to speak up for Lina.
Zhang Ye’s previous actions had won over many people, so Connor had a good impression of him and wasn’t trying to be disrespectful.
He simply looked down on those who lacked ability yet hid behind the strong. In his view, Lina was exactly that—dead weight.
Zhang Ye walked slowly over to Connor, patted his shoulder, and said, “There’s nothing wrong with some pre-battle trash talk, but you should mind your tone.”
“Have you considered that if Lina defeats you in this match, those words will be like a slap to your own face?”
“Furthermore, this is a match between classmates.”
“I don’t care what faction you come from, what your background is, or what grievances you have, but you must remember this now!”
“You are classmates!”
“You are people studying under the same roof!”
“In a sense, the classmates you have now will be your future network, your source of strength!”
“Never look down on anyone, because one day, at some moment, they might silently surpass you!”
“So, while you’re at the academy, try to be a bit more considerate of your classmates, alright?”
These words were directed not just at Connor, but at everyone present.
Looking at Zhang Ye, Connor opened his mouth to speak but then looked toward Lina.
Zhang Ye smiled. “Don’t look down on Lina. Wait until after this battle to make up your mind.”
Connor nodded upon hearing this. “If she can change my opinion of her in this fight, I will apologize for what I said!”
Zhang Ye grinned and patted his shoulder. “That’s what a good classmate should do, and it’s also a quality a strong person should possess—tolerance!”
With that, he returned to Lina’s side and said softly, “Don’t be nervous. Remember what I taught you. Use your talents well, and you can be very strong!”
Lina looked at Zhang Ye, her eyes shimmering slightly, before she nodded heavily. “Mhm, I won’t let you down, Brother Ye!”
“Don’t let yourself down,” Zhang Ye said with a smile, then nodded to Leona to signal they were ready.
Leona watched Zhang Ye with a smile.
He truly acted like a good class monitor should. With him around, she would have a lot less to worry about.
“If you’re ready, let’s begin!” Leona announced.
Everyone held their breath as they watched the battle.
After Zhang Ye’s speech, the students couldn’t help but turn their attention to Lina, giving her more focus.
Lina also knew that everyone was watching her.
She took a deep breath.
I can’t let Brother Ye down!
The battle began, and Connor struck first, a surging chill sweeping across the entire field.
Seeing this, Zhang Ye stomped his foot, and blue flames spread out. They didn’t harm Lina in the slightest, but they dispelled all of the chill.
“Impressive!” Seeing Zhang Ye react so quickly and with such control, Connor couldn’t help but praise him.
People of this world had an instinctive respect for the strong.
Thus, Connor decided to give it his absolute all against Zhang Ye!
Cold ice radiated from him as he waved his hand, starting directly with an ice storm. Countless ice spikes and blades flew toward Zhang Ye and Lina.
The range was massive, covering a third of the field, while the other students struck simultaneously. Combat Techniques and magic were unleashed together, locking down all of Zhang Ye and Lina’s possible evasion routes.
They went all out from the start; this was their way of respecting a strong opponent!
Facing the incoming magic, Zhang Ye and Lina stood their ground.
Lina was slightly nervous, clutching the 【Shining Twins】 tightly.
Zhang Ye, however, looked relaxed and calm.
“In battle, you must stay calm at all times. Only then can you make the right decisions,” Zhang Ye’s soft voice reached her.
Lina nodded gently, and her rapidly beating heart gradually began to steady.
“Here it comes,” Zhang Ye said.
By now, the magic was right in front of them.
Just as everyone thought the two were about to be submerged by the spells, their figures vanished simultaneously!
Teleportation?!
Or what?!
Connor was stunned, then suddenly remembered something and hurriedly looked behind him. Zhang Ye and Lina had appeared behind them at some unknown point.
Zhang Ye remained still with a faint smile, while Lina raised the dual pistol magic devices in her hands.
Seeing this, Connor sneered inwardly.
He came from the Frost Empire. Although they weren’t exactly mortal enemies with the Lionheart Empire, there were occasional frictions, and their relationship wasn’t very harmonious.
As a member of the Frost Royal Family, he naturally knew Lina’s background.
He knew Lina possessed two talents—though he didn’t know exactly what they were—but she was unable to learn any magic or Combat Techniques. Her rank had also been stuck at the Tier Seven peak forever; it was said she struggled to even deal with a magical beast of the same rank.
Therefore, in Connor’s view, Lina posed no threat.
Especially after she had discarded the Treasure prepared for her by the Lionheart Royal Family in favor of magic devices, Connor’s disdain had only grown.
So, when he saw the muzzles of Lina’s pistols light up, he simply erected an ice shield to block them.
However, in the next instant, Mana Balls poured out like a rainstorm, slamming violently against the ice shield.
The ice shield had the strength of a Tier Eight defensive spell, and the Mana Balls only had power approaching Tier Seven. However, the firing rate of the dual pistols reached forty rounds per second each. Firing simultaneously, she could launch eighty Mana Balls per second!
In less than a single second, the ice shield was blasted to pieces, and countless Mana Balls flew directly toward Connor’s face.
Connor was horrified; he never expected Lina to have such terrifying burst damage.
What was the deal with those magic devices?!
At this distance, it was too late for Connor to set up another defense.
In the nick of time, Sikte blocked the way in front of Connor. With a roar, he underwent a semi-beastification, transforming into a three-meter-tall beastman with a rhino’s head. At the same time, heavy armor manifested on his arms as he held them up in front of him.
Boom! Boom! Boom! The dense barrage of Mana Balls struck Sikte, forcing him to retreat step by step.
“I can’t... hold on much longer!” Sikte said through gritted teeth.
As a Tier Eight peak expert, his semi-beastification gave him the defensive power of the Tier Nine early stage. However, Lina’s Mana Balls were too dense. Each one was equivalent to a full-power Mana Ball from a Tier Six peak mage, possessing Tier Seven strength. Having them slam into him was incredibly painful.
After enduring for only two seconds, cracks appeared in the armor on his arms.
Everyone was shocked.
They all knew how strong Sikte’s defense was, yet Lina was actually able to push him back and was even about to break through his armored defense?!
“I’m not done yet!” Lina suddenly gave a light shout. She held down the triggers, and two points of starlight gathered at the muzzles. A moment later, two massive spheres of starlight surged out, slamming violently into Sikte’s arms.
The armor shattered, and Sikte let out a cry of pain as he was sent flying backward.
The power of these two hits was equivalent to a Tier Nine mage’s full-power Mana Ball!
While the raw power didn’t match a full-power spell, it was still incredibly terrifying!
【Retrograde】!
In the next moment, Lina’s body vanished and reappeared in the same spot. The mana she had just consumed for the charged attack was completely restored.
Everyone stared at Lina in shock.
This... is this really the little princess of the Lionheart who supposedly needs a Treasure to deal any damage?!
While everyone was dazed, a clear shout suddenly came from behind Lina’s side.
“【Leopard Rending Claw】!”
Three claw marks flew straight toward Lina!
Everyone’s hearts leaped into their throats at that moment.
