Upon hearing this, Ante and his men were instantly terrified. Zhang Ye was also taken aback, saying, “That’s a bit harsh, isn’t it?”
Samanra replied indifferently, “If it weren’t for you, you can probably guess what our fate would have been. So, this isn’t harsh—it’s simply giving them a taste of their own medicine.”
Ante’s lips trembled, his heart filled with dread. He blurted out, “You... you can’t kill me, or the Radiant Sun family will... will...”
At this point, he couldn't even finish his own sentence.
Samanra let out a cold laugh, her beautiful face filled with contempt. “Retaliation? Please, this is a secret realm. Who’s going to know it was us?”
Ante was speechless; Samanra had thrown his own words right back at him.
Zhang Ye chuckled. This Samanra was usually so icy; he hadn't expected her to have such a black-bellied side.
Seeing that Samanra’s intent to kill was set, Zhang Ye took a sharp breath and finally said, “Alright, but this is outside our scope of business. You’ll have to handle it yourselves.”
Samanra nodded. “No problem.”
With that, she walked directly toward Ante and the others. Sabiba also cast a grateful glance at Zhang Ye before looking triumphantly at Ante, saying, “Retribution comes quickly, doesn’t it?”
In the next moment, Samanra waved her hand. Several blades of azure wind condensed and slashed directly toward the heads of Ante and his men.
“You can’t—” Before Ante could finish, his head soared into the air.
Thirty heads took flight, pillars of blood sprayed, and as the Holy Light Shackles vanished, thirty corpses slumped over. The heads rolled across the ground, their faces still wearing expressions of lingering terror.
Zhang Ye felt a slight chill watching this scene.
Though he had killed many magical beasts during that month and had grown accustomed to blood, seeing thirty human lives vanish in less than a second still made him feel somewhat uncomfortable.
However, he quickly moved past it. This was something he would inevitably deal with in the future, and he would eventually have to kill people himself. That was why he had agreed to let Samanra do it—so he could begin to adapt.
As a protagonist, one couldn't be a naive saint; otherwise, one wouldn't live long and would even get flamed by the readers... cough!
Seeing this bloody scene, Lina’s face turned pale, but she forced herself to endure it, trying her best to adapt as well.
Renomon and Nan, on the other hand, had no reaction. Nan in particular didn't even show a change in his breathing rhythm.
Zhang Ye looked at the corpses scattered on the ground and clicked his tongue. “They’re all ruthless, aren't they...?”
“Alright, since you three are major clients of our company, I’ll provide some free bonuses. I’ll heal your injuries and restore your mana.”
Upon hearing this, Samanra shook her head, the gaze she directed at Zhang Ye no longer filled with such hostility. “No need. We still have to thank you for this time.”
“Haha, it’s always better to have one more friend than one more enemy. Besides, restoring your strength is necessary. Otherwise, if you run into something similar again, we might not be around to rescue you,” Zhang Ye said with a smile.
Samanra fell silent for a moment before nodding. “I owe you a favor.”
“It’s no big deal,” Zhang Ye laughed, then cast magic to heal the trio’s injuries.
Once the healing was complete, Zhang Ye walked up to Samanra and said, “Give me your hand. I’ll restore your mana.”
Samanra was curious about what method Zhang Ye would use to restore her mana, so she reached out her hand.
Zhang Ye gently took her fingers and injected pure mana into her.
In an instant, Samanra’s face flushed red, and she pursed her lips.
It felt like being soaked in a hot spring—warm and soothing.
In less than five seconds, her mana was completely refilled. Zhang Ye then moved to Sacra. After a moment of hesitation, she also reached out her small hand.
Sabiba couldn't help but ask, “Why am I not first?”
Zhang Ye glanced at him. “Don’t you know it’s ladies first?”
Is he kidding? You just interrupted my cool entrance; you think you’re going first?
Sabiba let out an awkward laugh but didn't really mind.
He could sense that his sister’s mana had been restored, which proved that Zhang Ye really did have a way to refill their mana.
As the mana was injected, Sacra’s expression also changed.
Sabiba looked on with curiosity. From her expression, it seemed like it felt pretty good?
Zhang Ye let go. By now, Sacra’s face was slightly red, just like Samanra’s.
However, the two women quickly composed themselves, returning to their usual cold expressions.
“My turn, my turn!” Sabiba eagerly reached out his hand.
Zhang Ye took his hand and injected mana.
Sabiba’s eyes instantly widened.
Whoa, this feeling!
After a moment, he was fully restored. He couldn't help but say, “Can I have a little more?”
Zhang Ye was speechless. “Your mana is full and you want more? Do you want to explode?”
Sabiba laughed awkwardly.
After this incident, the resentment Samanra’s trio felt toward Zhang Ye had clearly vanished. Their attitudes had shifted significantly, becoming quite friendly.
Especially that kid Sabiba; a moment ago he was shouting about killing Zhang Ye, and now he was asking for 'a little more.'
“Alright, there’s still one day left...” Zhang Ye stroked his chin and then said, “Let’s go mining! There seem to be a lot of ores around here; we can’t miss out!”
Following the usual tropes, ores could be used for forging equipment, making potions, setting up magic circles, and more—they had many uses. Plus, Zhang Ye remembered that Bolabo ate ores to increase his defense.
Sabiba asked, “Aren't you going to farm more points?”
Zhang Ye waved his hand. “If we farm any more, our lamps won’t be able to hold them all.”
Sabiba couldn't help but ask, “If you don't mind me asking, how many points do you have?”
Zhang Ye replied, “Just a hundred million or so.”
Sabiba: “How much is that?”
Zhang Ye: “A one followed by eight zeros.”
Sabiba: “How much is a one followed by eight ze—!!!”
The poor kid didn't even know how to say 'holy crap.'
“A hundred million?!” Sabiba said in a daze. Slight looks of shock also appeared on the faces of the two women.
Zhang Ye chuckled. When they arrived, he had gathered everyone’s Soul Essence Lamps and was supporting them with mana; they were currently floating in the sky, hidden by magic to prevent others from peeking.
Otherwise, if Samanra’s trio saw that sparkling pile of lamps, they would likely be dumbstruck.
“Want to go mining together?” Zhang Ye asked.
Samanra shook her head. “No, we still have to thank you for everything this time.”
At this point, she suddenly realized she didn't know Zhang Ye’s name yet, so she asked, “What is your name?”
Zhang Ye grinned. “Zhang Ye. Zhang as in the Great Emperor of Heaven, and Ye as in brilliant splendor.”
“An Eastern name. Interesting,” Samanra nodded. “ I’ll remember it. We won’t forget this life-saving debt.”
Zhang Ye waved it off. “It’s fine. We’re friends now. If you have time in the future, we can go rob... cough, discuss business together.”
A faint smile appeared on Samanra’s face. “Alright.”
Seeing the smile on her face, Zhang Ye sighed inwardly. Samanra wasn't actually as icy as she appeared on the surface; the coldness she displayed was more of a form of self-protection.
If you wanted to talk about cold, A-Nan was much colder.
