Chapter 44 | They Called Me the Dumbest Dragon, So I Paused Time and Built an Empire

Jonavili spread her perception and did a rough scan, finding that there were over a thousand people.

Xiao Shunzi brought forward the owner of the merchant caravan—Yat.

Little Fanni flew onto Jonavili's shoulder at that moment, looking at these humans with a huff.

"Hmph! Jonavili, these humans are truly disgusting. Hurry up and kill them!"

Jonavili raised her head slightly.

"There is no rush. I must clarify a few things first; it will not be too late to kill them then."

Hearing this, Fanni put on a reluctant expression.

"Fine... fine then. You must kill them, okay? Any creature that deceives a sprite deserves to die."

Jonavili glanced at Fanni.

Generally speaking, although sprites enjoyed playing pranks on passing travelers, they did not take lives. Quite the opposite; if given small cakes or other sweets, they would become quite friendly.

A sprite like Fanni who wanted to kill at every turn was extremely rare, but Jonavili soon figured out the reasons.

'Sprites are pure spirits of nature. They are simple, and their hearts are easily dyed with color.

Fanni was captured by a group of humans before she was even born. As soon as she was born, that group of humans was on the run, and casualties were inevitable during their flight.

Later, the human adventurers were captured by goblins, who surely slaughtered all those adventurers right in front of Fanni.

After that, Fanni was nearly used as a holy grail by the goblins and witnessed their breeding every day, which certainly affected her temperament.

Finally, she met me. In her eyes, I ruthlessly wiped out those goblins. Combined with the five years of experience expanding our power, where killing was unavoidable, Fanni is no longer simple.'

Though it was Jonavili's guess, she felt her intuition was mostly correct.

She could not help but feel a sliver of sympathy for Fanni's ordeal; this little thing's life had been a bit too tragic. But it was only a sliver.

Jonavili looked at Yat, who was kneeling before her and trembling all over, her tone cold.

"Sinner, why did you attack White Crystal City?"

Yat was completely scared witless, knocking his head against the ground repeatedly as he spoke incoherently.

"In... in response to the Great Master... I, I was just... for a moment, possessed by greed. I... I, I deserve to die! I deserve ten thousand deaths!"

As he spoke, Yat even raised his hands and began slapping himself frantically.

"Good! Well said. You indeed deserve to die. I have a hobby, which is fulfilling the dreams of others. Since you want to die so badly, I shall grant your request. Do not thank me."

At these words, Yat was stunned. He did not actually want to die; he was just putting on a show. Was there something wrong with this individual?

Yat wanted to beg for mercy, but it was already too late. Jonavili reached out and gripped his head, her immense strength preventing Yat from moving an inch.

With a muffled bang, the watermelon juice exploded on the spot, red liquid splashing everywhere.

Her originally pristine white dress was stained by this watermelon juice.

Seeing this, Jonavili showed a look of disgust.

"Even in death, you must sicken me. You truly deserved to die."

However, deep in her eyes, a trace of complexity appeared, though it was quickly hidden and noticed by no one.

"Well killed! These treacherous fellows all deserve to be killed!"

Fanni sat on Jonavili's shoulder, cheering repeatedly. Her giggles and clapping felt like thorns in the sides of the remaining humans.

Seeing the caravan owner killed so brutally, the other humans felt their limbs go weak, and they all collapsed to their knees.

But they did not dare to wail or make any loud noise, fearing they would be the next to die.

Ignoring Fanni's words, Jonavili looked at the group of humans and spoke coldly.

"Who is the second-in-command of this caravan?"

Her voice was not loud, but everyone present heard it clearly.

A few seconds later, a hand was raised from within the caravan, and a young man stood up tremblingly from the crowd.

"Ma... Master, it is me."

Jonavili glanced at Xiao Shunzi. Understanding her intent, Xiao Shunzi kicked his way through the crowd and dragged the man before Jonavili.

Jonavili felt an inexplicable sense of pleasure seeing his trembling state.

"Very well. Tell me, why did you launch an attack?"

"In... in response to the Gre..."

Jonavili frowned. She did not like that this man's speech was so shaky.

She raised her small hand. Thinking his life was about to end, the young man hurried to kneel and kowtow frantically.

"Have mercy... Master!"

Jonavili cast a calmness magic.

"If you say one more word, that fellow's end will be your fate."

"Yes, Master."

Seeing that his head was still attached, the man breathed a sigh of relief.

"In response to Master, Boss Yat wanted to capture the unique monsters of White Crystal City to enslave them and harvest their scales for sale at any time.

Moreover..."

He looked at the little sprite sitting on Jonavili's shoulder and spoke again.

"An ordinary sprite is worth over two hundred gold coins, let alone an ice elemental sprite like this. She would sell for at least a thousand gold coins or more, so..."

"So you chose the most crude method?"

"Yes..."

"Hmph! Truly foolish."

Fanni was stunned upon hearing this, unable to remain calm for a long time.

"Master, have mercy! We were also forced into this."

Jonavili did not answer. She scanned the humans and began to contemplate.

'Killing these humans is easy enough, but it would also cut off the economy of White Crystal City. If I want to kill them, I would at least have to wait for another caravan to come here, but the probability of that is too low.

Furthermore, most of these people are mercenaries and adventurers. If they all met with disaster, it might cause unnecessary trouble.'

As she thought, an idea suddenly surfaced in Jonavili's mind.

'There are too many people here. If the number is reduced, it could serve as a greater deterrent and also lower suspicion.'

Thinking of this, Jonavili pulled back her dragon lips into a grin.

"Xiao Shunzi, pass down the order. Keep only two hundred people; slaughter all the rest!"

"Yes! My Lord!"

Jonavili's words made everyone feel as if they had fallen into an ice cellar. They all knelt and begged for mercy, but it was already too late. Xiao Shunzi turned around, his gaze turning cold.

"Kill!"

Immediately, the White Crystal Knights charged into the crowd and began an indiscriminate attack.

Gris also flew out at this time. Sensing the feast of slaughter, he immediately joined the massacre.

Ten minutes later, the area outside White Crystal City was a river of blood. The white, red, and black White Crystal Knights were all stained red with blood.
