“This... what happened?”
Staring at the empty space in the distance, at the girl standing alone on the back of a roach, completely unharmed, the city defense officer was dumbstruck.
“Is that really the Princess? She hasn't been replaced by some kind of monster, has she?”
The decapitation strike by 181 experts—including one Tier 9, twenty Tier 8, and one hundred and sixty Tier 7 experts—under the cover of heavy firepower had completely failed.
So many experts, giving their all, had failed to harm the distant girl in the slightest.
Her silver-white hair fluttered in the wind as she stood quietly on the back of the Zerg, her long dress dancing. No emotion could be seen in her eyes.
But at this moment, the human defense line was severely shaken.
Fortunately, only some of those standing on the city walls had witnessed this operation.
This was a battlefield; most people were simply at their posts, fighting with everything they had.
...
“Queen, what we need to do now is likely destroy a portion of the city wall. Relying solely on zerglings to climb is of no benefit to us. The enemy's defenses inside the city are also very strong. Although the individual strength of the Swarm is higher now, the capital has gathered all the Kingdom's elites. There are also a large number of magic arrays providing buffs and debuffs to our side. A simple frontal assault might result in heavy losses.”
The voice of Brain Bug No. 1 caused Xia Jin to fall into deep thought.
In truth, a frontal assault could still succeed, but the Swarm had already optimized its energy usage; there was no need to waste too many troops in battle.
They were still in the early stages of development.
“What is your plan for destroying the city wall?”
“Sacrifice a portion of the scourges to cover a group of Zerg in attacking several functional nodes near the city wall. As long as we temporarily prevent them from maintaining high-intensity energy support, the protection of the wall itself will weaken.”
“I understand.”
A moment later, approximately 10,000 cheap scourges and 100 fully upgraded mutalisks took flight.
Half of these scourges charged directly toward the griffins in the sky and the few remaining Falcon Knights. The rest dove at maximum speed, targeting a section of the city wall and the vast area of land behind it.
On the ground, the hydralisks suddenly focused their fire on that same location.
Several roaches took the lead, heading a charge of countless zerglings toward that area.
Xia Jin’s gaze drifted to the right. Approximately 100 ravagers crawled forward rapidly. After reaching a distance of about one kilometer, they crouched low, and one plasma shot after another flew into the sky, falling toward the target area in parabolic arcs.
...
Boom!
Boom, boom!
Dozens of consecutive spines suddenly struck a Tier 7 expert on this defensive line.
The vitality covering his body was instantly shattered, and the powerful piercing force turned him into a pincushion.
Following a series of loud explosions, his body burst apart like tofu.
“Banner captain!”
The surrounding soldiers cried out in alarm.
At that moment, a whistling sound descended from the sky as countless scourges slammed into the ground in batches. The thunderous explosions instantly turned the top of this section of the wall into a living hell.
Even more scourges flew into the city, launching a terrifying suicide offensive against the city defense forces on the ground.
Two kilometers away, the 3rd Legion commander, who was rushing toward the scene, had already witnessed this sight.
“Watch out for the impact!”
He let out a roar.
Boom, boom, boom, boom—
A series of flames swept along the streets, and in an instant, a large number of soldiers fell into a sea of fire.
Each scourge was Tier 4, and the explosions produced by such strength were incredible, let alone hundreds of such explosions stacked together.
As a Tier 9 warrior, the 3rd Legion commander suffered no damage at all from this level of attack, and even the soldiers behind him were well-protected.
“As expected of an elite legion.”
Xia Jin, who was synchronized with the perspective of a scourge as it launched its charge, personally witnessed the scene of dozens of scourges exploding as they hit a flash of light.
Meanwhile, plasma fireballs descended from the sky like a meteor shower, landing on the city wall and the streets behind it.
This was the attack of the ravagers.
Although the speed was somewhat slow, the instantaneous explosions undoubtedly raised the local temperature by nearly a hundredfold.
The thousand-degree heat caused many human soldiers to scream in agony.
Because their tiers were generally quite high, they weren't instantly incinerated by the high temperature. Instead, they endured it by relying on the vitality covering their bodies, their skin charring at a visible rate. The scene was exceptionally horrific.
As for the soldiers at the center of the explosions, even Tier 7 experts could not withstand that momentary destructive power.
A Tier 8 mage suddenly released a water magic shield.
Several fireballs landed on it, instantly producing the sizzle of steam.
However, ten seconds later, his expression changed when he saw hundreds more fireballs falling. He immediately retracted the large-scale shield and replaced it with a smaller one that only covered the spot where he stood.
Rumble—
The city defense forces in the entire block were essentially wiped out, while the many warriors of the 3rd Legion were still relatively far away.
