It turned out that in the critical moment when the lightning ball struck, Lu Ming had grabbed one of his grandfather's ankles with one hand. Using him like a racket, he swung him in a wide arc, put his back into it, and batted the lightning ball away.
Seeing this, Big Yellow, who had been running back, immediately stopped in its tracks. It felt that it could continue watching the show.
Then, raising its paw, a bowl of melon seeds appeared before it.
“Crack, spit...”
The sent-flying Punishment Lightning was also a bit dazed. What had just happened?
Why am I flying backward? Why didn't I strike anyone?...
Just then, it saw that damnable human shouting at it with a smug face:
“Come on! Little lightning ball, come and play...”
The lightning ball immediately trembled with rage, its electricity crackling wildly. What nerve!
Human, how dare you provoke the great Punishment Lightning...
“Crackling...”
With that, it shot toward Lu Ming once more.
Lu Ming watched as the lightning ball actually came flying back at him. He immediately regretted his words. He had only been trash-talking; why did it have to take him seriously?
“Grandfather, sorry to trouble you! Your nephew is being bullied by lightning, please help me swat it away...”
With that, Lu Ming swung his grandfather once again. With a bang, the lightning ball was batted away once more.
“Little lightning ball, just go back!” Seeing the lightning ball fly backward again, Lu Ming couldn't help but shout.
Electric sparks flared all over the lightning ball. Little? Who's little?
No lightning bolt could tolerate being called weak or little.
With electricity buzzing all over, the lightning ball changed direction and flew back toward Lu Ming again. I don't believe I can't strike you to death.
With a bang... as expected, the lightning ball was batted away again.
“I'm a good person! Little lightning ball, you must have targeted the wrong guy...”
Hmph... Wrong? How could the great Punishment Lightning ever make a mistake?
The Tribulation Lightning charged at Lu Ming again.
Bang...
Bang...
Big Yellow chewed its melon seeds, watching Lu Ming hold his grandfather and bat the lightning ball away time and time again.
“Woof woof!!”
How satisfying!
Once Big Yellow snapped out of it, its eyes were filled with excitement. Grandfather was terrifyingly strong! Since he was Lu Ming's grandfather, he was definitely its grandfather too!
...
As he kept batting it, Lu Ming noticed something. With each time the lightning ball was sent flying, its color grew lighter, its size shrank, and its power was no longer as formidable as before.
At this moment, the lightning ball was also preparing to wrap things up. As time passed and it was batted away repeatedly, the energy in its body was nearly depleted, and it couldn't replenish itself here.
To recharge, it had to return to the Thunder Pool...
This damnable human had escaped yet again. He had better not make another mistake and fall into its hands next time. Otherwise, next time, it would definitely blast him until his soul dissipated.
As for returning to recharge and coming right back? No, the rules dictated that it could only descend once.
As for why? It didn't know. The rules were just the rules; it just had to follow them.
Just as Lu Ming saw the Punishment Lightning preparing to pack up and leave, he hurriedly shouted:
“Little lightning ball, don't go! Stay and play a bit longer...”
The lightning ball froze. What the hell, this is too much bullying!
Even though it knew it probably couldn't strike this guy to death this time, it still couldn't resist channeling its power to strike at Lu Ming once more.
Looking at the lightning ball coming at him again, Lu Ming rejoiced. The moment he used his grandfather to bat the lightning ball away, he quickly waved his hand, releasing Niu Lansan and the others.
Sensing the electric charge in the air, before Niu Lansan and the others could even ask, Lu Ming's voice rang out:
“Quick... Quick! Those who cultivate lightning techniques, start absorbing it quickly...”
Ever since the members of the Heavenly Demon Sect had swapped all their weapons for Thunderclap Bricks, many of them had switched to lightning-attribute techniques. With an abundant source of lightning energy, their cultivation would progress much faster.
Lu Ming had realized this, which was why he released Niu Lansan and his group.
Hearing Lu Ming's words, Niu Lansan and the others immediately snapped to attention. Except for Huang Tianbao, Fei Jiujin, and Fu Chen, everyone else quickly began running their techniques to absorb the lightning energy.
The sent-flying Punishment Lightning, hearing Lu Ming's words, nearly dissipated on the spot from sheer rage. Damn it, are you using me as a spirit stone?
Just as it was about to leave, Lu Ming's voice rang out again:
“A-tah!”
It was directly batted back by the body the youth was holding.
Boom...
As Niu Lansan and the others ran their techniques, the lightning ball felt the lightning energy within its body draining rapidly. It tried its best to flee, but Lu Ming batted it back every single time.
“Little lightning ball, don't run! Let's play...”
The lightning ball trembled all over, its lightning energy draining even faster. It glared at Lu Ming with deep resentment:
“Crackling...”
You absolute beast, you're even shearing the wool off the Punishment Lightning!
Wuwu... Only when the lightning ball had shrunk into a nearly transparent, dissipating sphere did Lu Ming and the others finally let it go.
With a whoosh, the lightning ball quickly fled, vanishing into the void.
Wuwu... I, the great Tribulation Lightning, was actually bullied. I have no face to see other lightnings anymore.
“Punishment Lightning, did you get mugged?”
Just as the Punishment Lightning returned and was about to enter the Thunder Pool, a voice rang out. The Punishment Lightning shuddered. Wasn't it indeed mugged?
However, it still refused to admit defeat:
“What nonsense are you talking about? I went to do charity. I saw some people struggling to cultivate lightning techniques, so I showed some love...”
The Tribulation Lightning mocked:
“If you got mugged, just admit it... Why make up excuses? Pfft, you're a disgrace to all lightning...”
“Don't talk nonsense! I was showing love...”
With that, the Punishment Lightning plunged into the Thunder Pool. At the same time, it cursed in its heart: Damn Tribulation Lightning, I hope you run into the same misfortune as me.
...
“Great Sect Master, where are we?” After wrapping up his cultivation, Niu Lansan looked around and asked curiously.
“The demon race's territory...” Lu Ming changed his grandfather into a fresh set of clothes and replied.
“What? The demon race's territory?” Hearing Lu Ming say it was the demon race's territory, Niu Lansan and the others couldn't help but gasp in shock.
“Let's go. We'll venture into this demon territory and see why our Second Sect Master was abandoned back then!” Lu Ming waved his hand and shouted.
“Yes!”
“Wait a moment.”
Just then, Lu Ming remembered something. He rummaged through his storage bag and pulled out needles, thread, old clothes, tattered sacks...
Then, he set to work with furious speed. A moment later, a pile of hoods was formed.
“Old Man Wang, refine these.”
“Great Sect Master, Old Man Wang is on leave.” This time, Niu Lansan's voice spoke up from the side.
Lu Ming paused, instantly remembering. Then, he turned to look at everyone.
“Does any of you know artifact forging?”
Niu Lansan and the others stared at each other and shook their heads.
Seeing this, Lu Ming couldn't help but sigh. Sigh! The entire sect has only one craftsman, and he's on leave. It seems I'll have to train a few in the future.
With that, he decided to try refining these hoods himself. He felt as though he already knew how to forge artifacts.
He pulled out an introductory book on artifact forging and skimmed through it, then read a book of forging insights.
Lu Ming began refining. The instant he started, the Protagonist Stepping Stone Halo deep in his sea of consciousness trembled slightly, and a speck of light flew into Lu Ming's soul.
