Hell.
“My sweet child, you're finally back! Mother was worried to death!”
Hecate's arms wrapped around Ning Busan like iron pincers, her fingers digging deep into his shoulder blades as if she wanted to fuse him completely into her embrace.
Ning Busan was squeezed so hard he couldn't breathe. “...”
This was, in a literal sense—a heavy love.
After Hecate let go of Ning Busan, she looked at the crown on his head and nodded in satisfaction. “Not bad. It truly suits you.”
When Ning Busan had first arrived, his back had been straight and upright, but once Hecate released him, all the momentum he had gathered instantly vanished.
After all, he had been away for so long. Ning Busan didn't know if Hecate had gone mad during this time, so he began to probe for information. “Mother God, what have you been doing lately?”
“I've been waiting for you to return!” Hecate complained. “In the month or so since you left, I haven't been able to eat or sleep. If you hadn't come back soon, I would have gone looking for you!”
Ning Busan asked, “You didn't do anything else?”
This was too abnormal!
It didn't fit Hecate's personality at all!
She shouldn't be able to stay idle for a second. How could she quietly stay in Hell without causing trouble?
“Well, it's not like I did absolutely nothing.” Hecate covered her mouth and let out a soft laugh. “Whenever I missed you, I would create an Evernight Beast.”
After saying that, she waved her sleeve. An extremely massive black space appeared behind her, filled with countless Evernight Beasts.
Their bodies were as massive as mountains, their scales gleaming with a dark metallic luster. Six blood-red eyes were exceptionally striking in the darkness, and their tails, like whips of shadow, stirred up vortexes.
“The number of this third batch of Evernight Beasts is a full million. It's enough to prove that I was thinking of you every single moment.” Hecate asked with anticipation, “Are you touched?”
Ning Busan: “...”
Should he be touched?
What kind of normal person creates monsters when they miss someone?
Seeing no response, Hecate narrowed her eyes, and her entire aura turned dangerous. “Why aren't you speaking?”
Ning Busan opened his mouth. “Uh... I'm so touched that I don't know what to say.”
Hecate curled her lips in pleasure.
Ning Busan asked, “By the way, what about the demons of Hell?”
Hecate said nonchalantly, “I found them to be eyesores. But since you didn't want me to kill them all, I drove them all into the human world.”
“They will cause chaos all over the world. The more chaotic the world becomes, the stronger my power will grow.”
Ning Busan pinched the bridge of his nose.
So now it was a literal case of Hell being empty, and all the demons being in the human world?
Hopefully, the situation in the Dawn Empire wasn't too bad.
Hecate suddenly burst into laughter. Her laugh sounded like wind blowing through the gaps of dry bones, sending a cold shiver down his spine and leaving him deeply unsettled.
“If I were to attack Heaven, you would stand on my side, right?”
“Of course, Mother God.”
Since the war hadn't started yet, Ning Busan didn't mind whispering sweet nothings.
But on the day the fighting actually broke out, he would definitely run as far away as possible.
Besides, even though Hecate was acting so lively, it seemed like the God of Light didn't care much.
Perhaps the other side was also biding their time to unleash a major move.
...
Dawn Empire.
On the distant horizon, a dark, dense army of xenos was approaching. The land they trampled was left barren, and even the sky was dyed ink-black.
Novalia stood on the city wall, her golden hair fluttering in the wind. She gripped the ice crystal wand in her hand tightly, her knuckles turning white from the force.
Just seven days ago, the Black Sun had descended, and now it was back.
Before long, the Black Sun would become a daily occurrence for the Dawn Empire.
Demons caused chaos inside the city, while xenos rampaged outside.
This was the current state of the Dawn Empire.
“Your Majesty, the defenses on the eastern wall have been fully deployed,” a soldier came forward to report.
Novalia nodded slightly, her voice cold and firm. “Prepare!”
The mages on the city walls raised their wands one after another, while the swordsmen gripped their weapons tightly.
Sharp screeches pierced the sky as the xeno army drew closer, causing the ground to tremble.
Novalia took a deep breath and closed her eyes, feeling the ice-element magic flowing through her body.
The feeling of powerlessness from when she had lost her magic talent had long since vanished, replaced by immense confidence and determination.
She slowly raised her palm, and the surrounding air began to freeze. Tiny ice crystals fluttered around her, as if draping her in armor of ice and snow.
“In the name of frost!” There was not a trace of fear in Novalia's eyes, only calmness and resolve.
She raised her wand high, and a brilliant, icy-blue light soared into the sky.
In an instant, countless icicles rained down from the sky, impaling the bodies of the xenos. Shrill shrieks echoed one after another, but even more xenos continued to march forward, stepping over the corpses of their companions.
Just then, the melodious sound of a horn echoed from behind.
Novalia looked back and saw a squad of elven warriors rapidly approaching.
Leading them were none other than Elvin and Isabella.
Isabella smiled. “Sister Novalia, we've driven away all the demons causing trouble in the Shadow Forest. Now, we can finally come to help.”
Elvin leaped onto the city wall, the longbow in his hand already drawn taut.
Novalia exchanged a glance with them, then turned to face the xeno army that was already nearing the city walls.
“All troops, charge—”
When Ning Busan returned to the Dawn Empire, he happened to witness the scene of the Dawn Empire's legions battling the xenos.
Hecate's mental state fluctuated between sane and insane. Ning Busan hadn't stayed long in Hell before he couldn't take it anymore.
Using the excuse of testing the power of the third batch of Evernight Beasts, he left Hell with tens of thousands of them.
Looking down at the battle below, Ning Busan pondered for a moment. He decided to conduct a small experiment to see if the xenos and the Evernight Beasts would attack each other.
He released a few Evernight Beasts onto the battlefield.
The xenos initiated the attack, their tentacles stabbing at the Evernight Beasts like sharp blades, while the Evernight Beasts responded with their razor-sharp claws and fangs.
Before long, those few Evernight Beasts were wiped out.
In that case...
Ning Busan directly dropped all the Evernight Beasts he brought into the middle of the xeno army.
The killing machines created by the God of Darkness and the hideous monsters from the void glared at each other, a thick killing intent permeating the air.
The roars of the Evernight Beasts mingled with the screeches of the xenos. The ground cracked beneath their feet, and the entire battlefield seemed to descend into absolute chaos.
Ning Busan: Dog eat dog. Beautifully done!
He really wanted to take all of Hecate's million-strong army of Evernight Beasts.
