Ning Busan entered his sea of consciousness.
Beneath his feet was an endless lake, smooth as a mirror, reflecting his image.
The face was indeed his, but deep within his pupils gleamed a silver glow that did not belong to a human.
The lake was no longer calm; it began to tremble.
Ripples spread, sending waves across the surface.
“You are afraid...”
The voice came from beneath the water, yet it echoed deep within Ning Busan's soul.
Ning Busan's temples throbbed as unfamiliar scenes began to flash before his eyes—the past of the Silver-Crowned God.
He was born from a vortex of chaos.
He plucked the tail of a comet to forge his crown.
He sat high upon his Divine Seat, with billions of living beings worshiping at his feet.
...
The divinity at the bottom of the lake had already approached the surface, the silver light surging like a tide, attempting to consume Ning Busan.
Ning Busan raised his hand, and the Lock of Causality materialized before him.
Countless crimson threads of destiny burst from Ning Busan's chest, wrapping around the Lock of Causality before spreading wildly in all directions.
Each of these threads carried Ning Busan's past, present, and future, as well as his thoughts, emotions, and memories.
Or rather, these threads carried the entirety of the humanity he could not bear to part with.
The Lock of Causality could only serve an auxiliary role; in the end, it was still a contest of wills between Ning Busan and the divinity of the Silver-Crowned God.
Ning Busan let out a low growl and flung the Lock of Causality into the lake!
“Splash—”
Countless threads of destiny pierced the water's surface, striking like spears at the rising silver light.
The water churned violently, looking like boiling silver liquid.
The threads of the Lock of Causality tightened, clashing fiercely with the divinity. They let out an ear-grating screeching sound, as if they would snap at any moment.
Right at that moment, the Lock of Causality chickened out.
Yes, that's right, it chickened out!
It wanted to run!
Ning Busan's pupils began to lose focus, the silver light almost completely taking over his eyes.
But he bit the tip of his tongue hard. While desperately suppressing the Lock of Causality, he yanked on the threads of destiny.
“Why resist?”
“You were originally a part of me.”
The divinity at the bottom of the lake said softly.
Ning Busan gritted his teeth, a trace of blood leaking from the corner of his mouth. “I am not a part of anyone!”
“I have my own name. I will not become you!”
“Who says humanity cannot achieve godhood?”
“I am my own god!”
The threads of destiny sliced open Ning Busan's palms. Blood dripped down the red lines, igniting clusters of crimson flames on the lake's surface.
“Boom—”
The silver light was forced back, and the divinity sank back to the bottom of the lake.
Ning Busan knelt on the lake, panting, and let out a low laugh.
He had won for now!
Yet in the next second, Ning Busan immediately whipped his head toward the Lock of Causality, his gaze cold and dark.
Lock of Causality: I'm doomed!
Ning Busan said in exasperation, “Fleeing from battle and turning traitor at the critical moment—you're really something!”
If his reaction had been even a second slower, he would probably be the one trapped at the bottom of the lake right now.
Ning Busan finally understood. Although the Lock of Causality possessed a tiny sliver of intelligence, its IQ was equivalent to a one-year-old child's, so seeking benefit and avoiding harm was its instinct.
He really couldn't feel at ease using this thing.
To be safe, Ning Busan constructed several streams of the power of rules, pinning the Lock of Causality deep within his sea of consciousness.
Lock of Causality: I just wanted to slack off, but now I'm forced to work. I'm so done...
After doing all this, Ning Busan exited his sea of consciousness.
A heavy mountain in Ning Busan's heart was finally lifted. Now, even when he looked at the surrounding rocks, he felt they looked rather pleasing to the eye.
Leo had appeared behind Ning Busan at some point, or perhaps he had been there all along.
Leo asked, “Louis, has the divinity of the Silver-Crowned God awakened?”
Ning Busan cleared his throat and said nonchalantly, “Actually, it wasn't as formidable as I imagined. I suppressed it easily!”
That's right, Ning Busan was playing it cool!
Leo clapped his hands, playing along perfectly. “Impressive, truly impressive!”
Ning Busan looked at him with suspicion. “Why the sudden change in attitude today?”
Leo said with a straight face, “Trust me, I didn't do anything.”
Ning Busan: “...”
Talk about a guilty conscience.
Just then, Lobao flew to Ning Busan's side, pointing at Leo as he complained angrily:
“He lied to me! He said there was a tree on Evercinder Island that spits out gold coins, but it doesn't spit gold coins at all—it spits beetles!”
“He ran away so fast, leaving me to be chased by dozens of beetles!”
A vein throbbed on Ning Busan's forehead. He looked at Leo with utter speechlessness. “How can you be so childish?”
Leo pulled out a memory crystal with a flourish, saying with a smile, “Kids have too much energy. They should get more exercise.”
Ning Busan watched the crystal intently.
His son was so cute!
Even when being chased by beetles, he was still adorable!
Lobao's face flushed with anger, but his eyes quickly darted around. He deliberately leaned in front of Ning Busan, exposing a purplish bruise on his arm, and said in a feigned, pitiful tone, “Daddy, it hurts so much!”
“How did you get hurt?” Ning Busan's brow furrowed. He immediately cast a healing spell, then scooped Lobao into his arms to comfort him. “Come here, let Daddy blow on it!”
Leo stared in absolute bewilderment: ?
Let Heaven judge who is innocent!
Those beetles didn't have a single bit of attack power!
“Wait, no...”
Just as Leo was about to speak, Ning Busan's face instantly turned cold. “Shut up! Go away!”
Out of Ning Busan's line of sight, Lobao made a face at Leo.
Leo laughed out of sheer exasperation.
This little guy was a guardian spirit from the Elven Clan. How could he not handle a few small beetles? And how could he not even know a healing spell?
It was nothing more than a scheme to vie for affection!
What a scheming little brat!
Suddenly, a rumbling sound echoed from the sky.
Ning Busan looked up and saw Demogor and Lucifer actually fighting in the sky. Blazing flames, thunder, and the power of chaos clashed, as if trying to tear the entire heavens to shreds.
Ning Busan massaged his temples in resignation. “Why are those two fighting?”
Leo chuckled. “Demogor found out that Lucifer ambushed you and almost killed you.”
Ning Busan knew instantly who was behind this. He couldn't help but glance at the man beside him. “Did you fan the flames again?”
“How is that fanning the flames?” Leo spread his hands innocently. “I was merely stating the facts.”
As the absolute king of the Dragon Clan, Demogor was domineering and fiercely protective, while Lucifer's pride made him disdain arguing with Demogor.
So the inevitable result was that they would have a 'warm and friendly' duel.
Leo crossed his arms, watching the battle in the sky with great relish.
Ning Busan narrowed his eyes, suddenly realizing something. “You're deliberately looking for entertainment?”
Leo let out a soft sigh. “Can't help it. I'm just too bored!”
Ning Busan couldn't help but roll his eyes.
He had been working himself to the bone in his sea of consciousness, fighting the divinity of the Silver-Crowned God, while this guy outside was doing his best to stir up chaos.
He was too lazy to even complain.
