"Suisui." Li Nanzhu looked at the small skeleton. "Can you make those bones 'move'?"
Suisui's soul fire flared up, immediately understanding her meaning. Its bone claws made a few excited gestures.
Rong Yuying's eyes narrowed slightly. "You want Suisui to control those scattered bones to create the illusion of a 'haunting' and lure those two evil cultivators away?"
"Exactly." Li Nanzhu nodded. "Even though evil cultivators are cruel, they still fear the unknown, especially in a place with such heavy yin energy. They might think it's the lingering resentment of dead cultivators."
Feng Qingping pondered for a moment, her gaze sweeping over the piles of white bones inside the prison. She nodded. "We can try. But rather than just luring them away, it would be better to deal with them directly."
The group discussed for a few more moments and quickly finalized the plan. Suisui immediately went into action. It scattered into bone fragments once more, sliding noiselessly into the cell. Its soul fire split into several points of eerie light, attaching themselves to the scattered white bones.
A few breaths later—
Clack... clack-clack...
In a corner of the prison, a few bones suddenly gave a slight tremor.
Suisui waited patiently until the two men separated. When the foundation establishment evil cultivator turned to walk toward another row of stone rooms, Suisui suddenly made one of the bone fragments produce a clatter as it rolled gently.
"Hmm?" The foundation establishment evil cultivator paused, looking back alertly.
Suisui immediately made the bone fragment stay still, as if the sound just now was merely an illusion.
The evil cultivator frowned, scanning the area suspiciously. Eventually, his gaze landed on the pile of white bones.
He hesitated for a moment but walked over anyway. He poked at them a few times with a short knife, muttering, "The yin energy in this damn place is too heavy. Even bones can move on their own..."
Suisui seized the opportunity. The moment he turned around, it made another bone fragment roll.
"What was that?!" The foundation establishment evil cultivator whipped around. This time, he was certain he hadn't misheard.
He warily approached the pile of bones, holding his short knife in front of him, cursing under his breath. "Trying to play ghost..."
Seeing the timing was right, Suisui suddenly made all the surrounding bone fragments clatter and scatter, then quickly pieced them together into a giant bone hand that lunged out and grabbed the evil cultivator's ankle!
"Ah!" The foundation establishment evil cultivator jumped in fright, stumbling back several steps and nearly falling over.
The golden core evil cultivator heard the commotion and looked over with a frown. "What's going on?"
"L-lord!" The foundation establishment evil cultivator's face was pale as he pointed at the pile of bones. "These bones... t-they moved!"
The golden core evil cultivator snorted coldly. "Useless! You let a few bones scare you like that?"
The foundation establishment evil cultivator swallowed hard, forcing himself to speak. "B-but they really are moving..."
The golden core evil cultivator waved his hand impatiently. "Get over there and look. Don't delay our business."
Not daring to disobey, the foundation establishment evil cultivator tightened his grip on his short knife and cautiously approached the pile of bones. As if sensing his intention, the bones actually began to drift toward the corner.
Staring at the 'fleeing' bones, the evil cultivator suddenly let out a sinister laugh. The rolling trajectory of the bone fragments was too organized, as if something was pulling them! "Playing tricks!" He stepped forward and crushed the pile of bones. "The number of people I've killed is more than this pile of rotten bones!"
Suisui's soul fire, hidden in a rock crevice, pulsed. It deliberately let a bone fragment roll 'just right' to his feet.
Seeing this, the evil cultivator flipped his short knife, the blade glowing with a dark red blood-light. He charged forward in three quick steps and stomped on the bone fragment.
"Run? Where are you going to run!" His sole crushed the bone into shards with a crunch. His previous trepidation had long since been tossed to the back of his mind.
As he finished speaking, he saw another pile of white bones squirming ahead and stepped on them again.
In this way, he stomped his way through one pile of bones after another until he reached the corner. Only after crushing the very last small pile did he lift his chin triumphantly.
"Just a pile of rotten bones," he sneered. "Things I've crushed underfoot, who do you think you're scaring..."
Before the words could fully leave his mouth, a flash of green light suddenly erupted from the ground!
"Wha—" His pupils shrank. Before he could react, his throat was instantly pierced by a sharp beam of spiritual light!
"Urgh...!"
His voice stopped abruptly. His body stiffened for a second before collapsing silently to the ground. The rustling sound of blood seeping into the floor made it seem as if something underground was 'eating' it...
Feng Qingping's figure emerged from the shadows, the spiritual light on her fingertips not yet faded. Her expression was cold. She waved her hand, and a soundproofing barrier enveloped the surroundings, ensuring not a single sound leaked out.
"It's dealt with," she whispered.
Suisui's bone fragments slipped back from the corpse of the foundation establishment evil cultivator and reassembled into its original form. Its soul fire flickered proudly. The bones that the evil cultivator had crushed just now were all the old bones from the cells; it had hidden itself perfectly.
Li Nanzhu gently patted its skull, praising, "Well done."
...
Inside the prison, the golden core evil cultivator waited for a moment, his brow furrowing deeper and deeper.
"Useless, taking so long just to check some bones..." he cursed under his breath, a faint sense of unease rising in his heart.
Logically, no matter how stupid that foundation establishment evil cultivator was, he shouldn't be gone for this long. Unless... something happened.
His eyes sharpened, and spiritual energy surged around him as he scanned the surroundings warily.
Just then—
"Boss! There seems to be movement outside!" The foundation establishment evil cultivator's voice suddenly came from deep within the passage, his tone urgent. "It looks like those people from the Hehuan Sect have broken in! Come take a look!"
The golden core evil cultivator's expression changed. "What?!"
Without hesitation, he strode toward the direction of the voice, cursing his subordinate's incompetence for being unable to stop a few women.
However, the moment he stepped around the corner—
Hum!
Complex array patterns suddenly lit up on the ground. Spiritual energy entwined around him like chains, instantly locking down his movements!
"An array?!" The golden core evil cultivator was shocked. He immediately erupted with spiritual energy, trying to break free. However, the array was like a persistent rot; the more he struggled, the tighter the restraints became!
"It's useless." Feng Qingping walked out slowly, spiritual light flowing between her fingers as the array's power increased again. "This array is specifically designed to counter a golden core. The more you struggle, the faster you die."
The golden core evil cultivator's face turned ashen. He snarled, "Who are you?!"
Li Nanzhu stepped out from the shadows, a slight curve at the corner of her lips. "Weren't you just looking for us?"
The one who had mimicked the foundation establishment evil cultivator's voice just now was her! In her previous life as a war correspondent, she had specifically learned voice-changing techniques. She hadn't expected them to be so useful today.
The golden core evil cultivator finally realized he had been tricked. Rage flared in his eyes. "Mere foundation establishment ants dare to scheme against me?!"
Feng Qingping didn't bother wasting words with him. With a swipe of her finger, the array suddenly contracted!
"Ah—!" The golden core evil cultivator let out a shrill scream as his spiritual energy was forcefully suppressed back into his body. His meridians snapped inch by inch, and he finally slumped to the ground, completely losing the ability to resist.
Feng Qingping did not kill him. Instead, she used a restriction to seal his cultivation and tossed him aside. After all, this golden core evil cultivator seemed to have some status; they might be able to get many clues from him.
"Let's go! Save the people, quickly!"
