Although Mind Freya had the ability to read minds, she didn't have a habit of peeping into other people's secrets like Luna did. She usually didn't use this ability, let alone now when the two people in front of her were both Scholars. Even if she did read their minds, she wouldn't get anything useful.
Just as Mind Freya was about to ask what kind of riddles they were playing at, Euphy spoke up first. “By the way, Grandfather, can you get Rank Two and Rank Three potions of the Law Pathway?”
Augustus showed a puzzled expression. “Law potions? What do you want those for?”
Euphy said, “Oh, Grandfather, don't worry about that! Anyway, they'll be useful to me! Actually, you don't even have to give them to me. Just bringing them out for me to take a look and then returning them is fine.”
Augustus said, “To be honest, it's a bit difficult. Does it have to be Law potions?”
If it were Scholar potions, the Holmes family had the formulas and could brew them directly. If she wanted some extraordinary items, Augustus could make them too. But it just had to be Law potions.
For a great noble family like the Holmeses, if they wanted Law potions, they wouldn't go to the royal family or the state to ask for them. Instead, they would directly send their children to the authorities, and the authorities would arrange it.
It had been the same for Euphy's parents before. They had already negotiated with the state to send Euphy to work in the Special Service, and only then did the other party send a Law potion in advance. In the end, Euphy immediately fed that potion to her parrot. This behavior was truly quite rebellious.
Augustus said, “However, according to what you said, Euphy, if it's just to take a look, I actually know where some are. In a month, His Majesty the King will host a gathering. If nothing unexpected happens, all the potions from Rank One to Rank Six of the Law Pathway will be displayed there.”
In essence, this was a way for the royal family to show off their strength and leverage to all the nobles, plainly telling everyone that the royal family controlled the Law Pathway.
Euphemia immediately said, “Grandfather, I want two invitation letters!”
Augustus didn't refuse. He smiled and said, “Alright, Grandfather will get them for you when I go back.”
After that topic ended, Augustus asked again, “Euphy, do you want any extraordinary items? To celebrate your successful advancement to Rank Four, I must prepare a big present for you.”
Euphy's father was only a Rank Four extraordinary, and her mother was a Rank Three. Yet Euphy was already at Rank Four at such a young age, reaching her father's level. Thus, advancing to Rank Five or even Rank Six in the future was not impossible.
In other words, Euphy even had the potential to become the strongest extraordinary in the Holmes family's future!
However, Euphy scratched her head and said, “Well, that won't be necessary. Actually, it won't be long before I advance to Rank Five. Why don't you just prepare my Rank Five advancement gift directly, Grandfather?”
Hearing this, a huge question mark appeared over Augustus's head. He even wondered if he had misheard. “What did you say?”
Euphy used a calm tone to deliver an absolute humblebrag: “I've already digested half of my Rank Four potion. The rest probably won't take much longer.”
“This... this...” Augustus no longer knew what to say. Although he knew Euphy wouldn't lie to him, he still asked, “Is this true?”
Euphy said, “Of course.”
At this, Augustus was utterly speechless. To be able to advance to such a high rank at such a young age could no longer be described as just a genius; she was a monster talent.
Augustus had originally thought that Euphy being able to advance to Rank Six would already be amazing, but looking at it now, Rank Seven, which was a step further, might not be impossible either?!
“Good! Good! Good!” Augustus said "good" three times in a row, the excited expression on his face almost overflowing. However, another problem followed closely: the Holmes family actually didn't have a Rank Seven formula.
Augustus made up his mind that as soon as he returned, he would find a way to get a Rank Seven potion formula. The names of old friends appeared in his mind one after another. At his age, and as an Artisan who had made extraordinary items for countless people, his connections and channels were naturally top-tier.
At the same time, Augustus asked, “So, Euphy, what big secret did you actually uncover during this time? How did you digest the potion so quickly?”
Euphy was startled. She certainly couldn't say she had uncovered the secrets about Freya. So, after a pause, she said, “Grandfather, have you heard of the Society of Truth?”
Actually, she only said it to throw out a question to lead into the next topic, but Augustus unexpectedly said, “The Society of Truth? Have you run into people from the Society of Truth?”
“Ah?” Now it was Euphy and Mind Freya beside her who were surprised. Euphy said, “Grandfather, you know about the Society of Truth?”
Augustus said, “More than just knowing about it—the leader of that organization is likely an old friend of mine. I didn't expect that fellow to actually establish such an organization. Can you tell me exactly what happened?”
Euphy briefly explained how Luna, a dual-pathway Rank Five, was conducting experiments in the empire. Hearing this, Augustus sighed and said, “Dual-pathway, is it...”
“His name is Kahn. He was a commoner. When we first met at an extraordinary gathering, he wasn't an extraordinary yet and was still trying to buy a potion. It was I who sold him a Scholar potion, and after that, we naturally became friends.”
“There are differences between people, and the same naturally goes for extraordinaries. It's no exaggeration to say that although we are both of the Scholar Pathway, I always felt he was a genius, much, much smarter than me.”
“We had a great relationship until I later discovered that he resorted to any means for his research, even experimenting on homeless people. At that time, a huge argument broke out between us. We each held our own opinions, and neither could convince the other. In the end, he left after leaving a single sentence behind.”
“He said he would create an organization called the Society of Truth. If I wouldn't help him, he would find others to help him. One day, he would definitely research the secrets of the pathways and analyze the truth of the world.”
Afterward, I also tried to make inquiries, but there was no trace of this organization. Twenty or thirty years have passed, and I thought he had already given up or died in some unknown corner, but it seems he hasn't. He is still conducting his research.
