Chapter 114 | My Avatar Is Becoming a God

As soon as those words were spoken, the entire room fell into a dead silence, and the atmosphere became even more oppressive.

Indeed, people in high positions like them naturally viewed problems differently from the common folk.

Ordinary people just watched the spectacle, thinking a fun, crazy teacher had appeared. But these directors knew that this matter could never be as simple as it seemed.

Bai Feifei wouldn't dare to act so boldly if she were only representing herself.

If the City Lord had given her some kind of hint or instruction, then they were in trouble.

In the office, another director spoke up: "Aside from the claim that her appointment was specially authorized by the City Lord, are there any other updates from Qingping Academy?"

"Has the City Lord made any statement regarding the stunts she's pulling?"

The secretary quickly shook her head, glanced at the summary of documents in her hand, and spoke: "No. As of now, the City Lord hasn't made any statement at all."

"Many parents at Qingping Academy have complained that she isn't qualified to be a teacher, but the City Lord's office hasn't responded. They haven't dismissed her, nor have they publicly supported her."

After the secretary finished her report, she looked back up at Liu Qing, the current Chairman of the Board of Directors.

"Director Liu, should we perhaps contact the City Lord...?"

The moment she finished her sentence, Liu Qing snapped his head toward her, his gaze as sharp as a blade.

The secretary immediately lowered her head and gave herself a sharp slap across the face, leaving a visible red mark.

"My apologies."

Liu Qing looked away and said indifferently, "There are countless matters in Dawn City that require the City Lord's attention."

"Lord Liang is busy with a thousand affairs every day. We naturally cannot trouble him with such a trivial matter."

As he spoke, his gaze swept across the others in the room before he continued: "Everyone, we need to step up our efforts in new drug research, both in terms of quality and quantity. Do you understand?"

The many directors of United Pharmaceuticals nodded in unison.

Liu Qing stood up and made the final decision: "Alright, that's enough. The fact that the City Lord hasn't taken a stance is a stance in itself."

"We should resolve this small matter ourselves as quickly as possible. This is Dawn City; no one is allowed to point fingers at our pharmaceutical companies."

"Deal with her quickly."

Hearing his words, one of the directors hesitated and made a throat-slitting motion: "You mean... like this?"

Liu Qing: ...

"That might not be necessary. We can just follow her rules—have those students touch her as soon as possible and get it over with."

"Or use other methods to show the public that her claims are meaningless. If all else fails, then make her disappear."

He stood up, his expression gradually becoming somewhat fanatical.

"In any case, this Bai Feifei is not important!"

"We have far more important things to handle."

"Get this minor character sorted out immediately!"

The directors nodded one after another and stood up, concluding the meeting and preparing to depart.

...

Early morning, Qingping Academy.

Bai Feifei emerged from her temporary faculty residence wearing her Scavenger uniform. Holding a ruler in her hand, she walked toward the training hall, her nerves taut.

"Is doing this... really meaningful?" she asked Xu Mo in a low voice within her mind.

"Of course it is. At least I think it's very meaningful," Xu Mo chuckled in her head.

"You should pay attention. Don't get distracted and mess up, or all that posturing will have been for nothing."

Was that my idea to posture?!

Wasn't it you who insisted on it?!

Bai Feifei grumbled loudly in her heart, but she also knew that arguing with an Evil God was pointless.

Ever since yesterday, when Xu Mo had controlled her body to make those outrageous claims to the media, she had become famous.

Assistant Lin from Qingping Academy looked at her as if she were an Evil God herself and hadn't wanted to speak to her since then.

Furthermore, the students in the Elite Class were now practically vibrating with anticipation whenever they saw her.

Though they acknowledged "her" strength, they didn't agree with "her" decision to ban potions.

In fact, many felt that "she" had intentionally set the rule of winning by just touching her as a way to motivate them.

Consequently, by yesterday afternoon, many students had already begun attempting all sorts of sneak attacks on her.

Each of them carried cameras provided by the media, hoping to record evidence of a successful challenge.

Indeed, media personnel were now camped outside the gates of Qingping Academy every day, buying video footage.

Bai Feifei's "teaching experiment" at Qingping Academy had become a regular news feature, with many people looking forward to daily updates.

This made Bai Feifei feel as though she were back in the Black Smoke Coal Mine, constantly prepared for combat against aberrations, despite being in the middle of an academy.

The Elite Class consisted of Rank 2 and Rank 3 Scavengers, who weren't particularly difficult to deal with. However, if she couldn't let them touch her even once, she couldn't afford to be careless.

To avoid injuring anyone, she had swapped her longsword for a long, black, hard ruler.

At that moment, as she gripped the ruler and was about to say something more to Xu Mo, her eyes instinctively darted in one direction.

The effect of the Heart of the World medal she had obtained in the coal mine allowed her to hear the heartbeats of all things and break through all stealth effects.

In the next instant, a girl holding a long staff suddenly leaped out from the flowerbed she was staring at, swinging it in a sweep toward Bai Feifei's ankles!

Bai Feifei reacted instinctively, her ruler snapping out to intercept and break the staff. She then jabbed the ruler heavily into the girl's shoulder, pinning her into the dirt.

The girl couldn't get up for a moment. Wincing in pain, she asked with a look of confusion.

"Teacher Bai, how did you find me?"

How? Because an Evil God is helping me cheat...

Bai Feifei naturally couldn't answer that. She simply told the girl to be more careful next time before asking Xu Mo in her mind:

"I want to know, does what I'm doing now—including what you said to the media yesterday—have any actual benefit or effect on saving Dawn City?"

"Oh? Our Teacher Bai is so arrogant now?" Xu Mo teased. "You can chat while fighting someone else."

"As for the effect, there definitely is one. It's mainly to draw aggro and serve as bait. You'll understand soon; you should be seeing the results shortly."
