【Floor 6 OP Reply】: ...The small animal I turned into was a turtle.
【Floor 7 Don't Hit Me, I'm Feeding】: Hahahahaha, help! Why a little turtle? No wonder you couldn't outrun it. I'm dying of laughter.
【Floor 8 River Song in the Evening Breeze】: You two are way too miserable. I did okay. I turned into a parrot, so I could fly. I carried the Stamp Book in my beak and flew through without any obstacles, smoothly clearing the instance.
It's just that at the very end, I heard my parents' voices and almost couldn't resist looking back. Fortunately, I held back.
【Floor 9 Makka Pakka】: Did no one choose to walk backward? I'm really curious what the plot would be if you went backward. Has anyone tried it?
【Floor 10 wanan】: Yes! I did! I didn't believe that letter, I just thought there might be clues if I went back.
After I started walking backward, the entire stretch of road changed. It felt like the Underworld, but like it was only half-modeled.
There were missing chunks here and there, and parts that hadn't fully loaded. The screen kept flickering, and it even flashed red. It was a massive hit to my sanity.
Fortunately, my mom in the instance was awesome. There were so many creepy things trying to grab me, but she dragged me along as we ran. In the end, we managed to loop back to the main road and clear it.
【Floor 11 Even Dogs Won't Eat My Simping but I Will】: +1, my wife in the instance was also super nice. She kept talking to me on the radio the entire way, incredibly gentle.
It's just that in the end, only I survived. She didn't come out with me.
Has anyone managed to get a happy ending where both survive? I want to know if it's possible to bring the NPC back alive with us.
【Floor 12 Bad at Naming】: ??? What wife? What mom? Are we even playing the same instance?
In my instance, there was only a cold radio host who kept saying weird things the whole time. Isn't that a hostile NPC?
【Floor 13 Letters in the Evening Wind】: I have to write a giant “tragedy” for the NPCs. What do you mean by “the cat kept ringing”?
That radio host was actually someone who met with an accident alongside us in the background story.
For some players, it was a younger sister; for others, a close friend, a wife, or a mother. Everyone's setting was different, but they were all there to protect us.
【Floor 14 Er Xiang】: I've browsed several threads and noticed many people still don't understand the logic behind the radio NPC. I've compiled some actual test data from myself and a few teammates. Here's some solid info.
We players have corresponding roles in this instance. The character is the cowardly, sensitive, and mentally fragile type.
The radio host intentionally used lies to cover up the truth, describing eerie and terrifying things as normal scenery to suppress our fear, keep our mental state stable, and help us complete the process step by step.
Simply put, it's a form of well-intentioned protection.
【Floor 15 How Did You Know My Sister Is Cute】: Wow! It's the big boss Er Xiang!
Big boss, is there any guide for an S-rank evaluation? Is the S-rank ending about surviving and returning together with the NPC?
【Floor 16 Er Xiang Reply】: Theoretically, yes. But unfortunately, I don't have any strategic ideas on how to achieve an S-rank in this instance yet.
【Floor 17 I Want to Get Rich】: Oh, just keep a relaxed mindset. That's just how Anomalous Infection is. It's very forgiving of death but extremely harsh on survival.
Once you get the hang of it, it's easy to reach B-rank in instances, and a slightly better performance can net you an A-rank, but S-rank is tough. You don't just need strength; you also need luck to encounter an instance that fits your class and way of thinking.
I've already completed my entire furniture catalog, and after playing for so long, I've only gotten an S-rank once.
【Floor 18 001】: Alright, everyone knows you've completed your furniture catalog. You're a well-known figure in the Hedonists faction, after all. Why act like this?
【Floor 19 I Want to Get Rich Reply】: I feel like it, none of your business. I've completed my furniture catalog.jpg
【Floor 20 Life Without Work Is Great】: Why are you all talking about the letter? Is there no one like me who got skewered to death by the knives on the mountain of knives?
I really don't get it. Are your bodies made of iron or something?
【Floor 21 Mysterious Person Xiao Hei】: Brother, you didn't run over any small animals, did you? As long as you don't kill any small animals on the road and avoid the sin of killing, the blades on the mountain of knives will actively avoid you and won't hurt you at all.
【Floor 22 Leader of the Haircut in the First Lunar Month Faction】: What about me then? I was trampled to death by a herd of oxen. Does anyone know what happened?
【Floor 23 Mysterious Person Xiao Hei Reply】: You also hit an animal on the road.
But you didn't kill it; you only injured it. This changed the sin from killing to animal abuse, which corresponds to the Ox Pit Hell, hence why you were trampled to death by oxen.
【Floor 24 Leader of the Haircut in the First Lunar Month Faction】: That's not my fault, though! It suddenly darted onto the road. I couldn't brake in time at all. What was I supposed to do?
【Floor 25 Upsy Daisy】: By using the car's autopilot, of course!
If you let the car autopilot, it will brake on its own when encountering small animals. You won't hit them at all, and you don't have to stress yourself out. It saves so much trouble.
【Floor 26 Leader of the Haircut in the First Lunar Month Faction】: Ah? The car has autopilot? I drove manually the entire time. I had no idea that feature existed.
【Floor 27 Azure of Sunny Days Reply】: Yes, yes! I don't even know how to drive. If Anomalous Infection didn't provide autopilot, I'd die and get kicked out within a minute of entering the instance.
The autopilot in this instance is much safer than manual driving, especially during the small animal segment. Some animals are so tiny that we can't see them at all while driving manually, making it very easy to run them over.
It's the same for the blood rain segment later on. Your vision gets completely blocked. If you drive manually, you have no idea where to turn, making car crashes highly likely.
【Floor 28 Leader of the Haircut in the First Lunar Month Faction】: How did you know I died in a car crash and got kicked out of the instance? What does that prove?
【Floor 29 Wish I Knew Better】: You big dummy, it proves that you know how to drive.
【Floor 30 Just Want to Eat Bunny】: All of you had it better than me. I was crushed to death by a mudslide. Does anyone know why?
I was very good and followed the rules the whole time. How did I end up crushed by a mudslide?
【Floor 31 OP Reply】: Because you wasted food.
At the buffet restaurant of the second gas station, no matter how terrible the food tastes, you must finish it all. You cannot waste it. Wasting food corresponds to the related hell, which manifested as a mudslide in this variation.
【Floor 32 Just Want to Eat Bunny】: !!! So that's why!
I clearly smelled how delicious the food was, and since my class is immune to poison anyway, I took a ton. But after taking one bite, I gagged.
【Floor 33 Great Detective Kebei】: Good news: poison resistance maxed out. Bad news: the opponent is purely torturing your taste buds.
...
【Floor 134 Big Hungry Tyrant】: Let me tell you something. At the very end, did anyone have their eyes covered by an NPC who was their lover or spouse? It was a palm, right? Hehehe ^_^
...
As expected of a popular thread, Bai Ci saw all kinds of bizarre ways of dying.
Unfortunately, even after browsing through several threads, no one had shared an S-rank clearance guide. It seemed that achieving an S-rank this time was truly difficult.
“For the next instance, I hope I get a character with a high degree of freedom like the one in the post office instance,” Bai Ci muttered, stretching lazily with a hint of anticipation in her voice.
