Chapter 198 | Overtime Necromancy: My Legion Never Sleeps

Upon receiving the news from Xuan Chu, Chen Xu passed through the spatial gate within the Undead Kingdom and entered the Land of the Undead once again.

"Wait, how did the concentration of necrotic energy increase?"

As soon as he entered the Land of the Undead, Chen Xu noticed something was different about the environment.

Furthermore, the Lord of the Undead's authority seemed more active than usual, and Chen Xu felt that he could mobilize more of the world's power through it.

"Could it be?"

A possibility rose in Chen Xu's mind, and he immediately expanded his mental strength to cover his territory.

He discovered that many new habitats for low-tier undead had appeared within his lands.

There were many mid-to-high-tier terrains like Bone Forests and Ghoul Dens, and he even found four or five ghost lakes.

The rising concentration of necrotic energy, combined with the sudden appearance of numerous undead habitats and various other anomalies, confirmed Chen Xu's suspicion.

He had encountered a special celestial phenomenon of the Land of the Undead: the Necrotic Tide.

It was well known that the Land of the Undead constantly pulled in homeless lost souls from the myriad worlds.

These souls were massive in number, but after being pulled into the Land of the Undead, they were not immediately converted into undead creatures.

Instead, they would accumulate until a certain amount was reached, at which point they would all be converted into undead at once.

This process would cause the world origin of the Land of the Undead to be briefly exposed, leading to an increase in the concentration of necrotic energy.

It was just the right time to let his external incarnation out to take a big gulp of the air.

He released 【Bone Guard Ten】. As soon as the barren physical body came into contact with the high-concentration necrotic energy, it began to ravenously devour it.

The devouring speed of 【Bone Guard Ten】 was exaggerated, directly forming a vortex above it that continuously extracted the free-floating necrotic energy from the air.

Afterward, Chen Xu teleported to the northern border of his territory, where Xuan Chu was located.

At this moment, Chen Xu also understood why it hadn't taken long for competitors for the title of Lord of the Undead to come and attack him.

Logically speaking, given the thought process of these undead, they should have adopted a cautious, watchful stance after seeing Chen Xu kill two mythic-tier undead in a row, one of whom was a Lord of the Undead candidate.

However, the Necrotic Tide had broken this balance.

The Necrotic Tide brought a large number of precious newborn undead, which were essentials for any Lord of the Undead candidate. Newborn undead represented military strength and faith.

Before Chen Xu had arrived at the Land of the Undead, Xuan Chu and the other Black Knights had already gone to recruit the newborn undead in the territory.

The skeleton brothers had increased by a full 100 million, primarily consisting of skeleton soldiers. Ghouls had increased by 30 million. Other high-tier undead had also increased by nearly 1 million.

Moreover, this was only the first wave of the tide. A Necrotic Tide usually surged multiple times, with each surge increasing the necrotic energy concentration and bringing in a large number of newborn undead.

The more territory he conquered now, the more troops he could recruit later. The more troops he had, the more territory he could conquer. Simply put, more territory led to even more territory.

In that case, Chen Xu could not afford to hunker down. He had to take the initiative and launch a Northern Expedition to expand his territory.

Otherwise, if he stayed hidden in the south while other competitors divided the territory, heaven only knew how many powerful overlords would emerge.

Chen Xu looked at the enemy army rapidly approaching in the distance. They were all crippled ghouls and skeletons. There were a dozen bone dragons flying in the sky, but even they were incomplete, missing several wing bones or having only a small stub of a tailbone left.

It seemed that the attacking enemies had only recently experienced a battle.

"Heh, a bunch of broken remnants, and they dare to show their faces."

Chen Xu laughed with disdain. He estimated that the opposing Lord of the Undead assumed Chen Xu's forces were as heavily damaged as his own and had immediately decided to pivot the battle.

Unfortunately, Chen Xu's battle against Old Insight had resulted in almost zero losses. The undead creatures strengthened by his talent were significantly more powerful than original species.

The skeleton soldiers, serving as the primary tanks and cannon fodder, even possessed a self-resurrection ability, making them even harder to kill.

"Bone Guard One!"

"My Lord."

Bone Guard One turned his head and knelt on one knee, looking at Chen Xu.

"These broken remnants are yours to handle."

"Yes!"

Bone Guard One turned and left. Before long, a large group of skeleton soldiers assembled. Bone Guard One stood in the center of the formation, connecting the skeleton soldiers with the Huangquan Formation.

Then, he drew the longsword at his waist. The skeleton army moved as a single entity, charging toward the front.

Reinforced by the military array, the charge speed of the skeleton army rivaled that of necrotic knights, and they appeared in the enemy's field of vision in an instant.

"Errrgh!!!"

A one-armed, one-eyed ghoul was the first to let out a roar, followed by successive roars from the other ghouls.

These ghouls and skeleton soldiers also began their charge.

Although their bodies were broken, the emotion of fear did not exist in their consciousness. They would only unconditionally execute the orders given by their Lord of the Undead, even if the order was to go to their deaths.

Crack!

The two armies collided. Chen Xu's giant skeletons instantly crushed the enemy. Under the extreme difference in size, the skeleton army didn't even need to swing their swords; they only needed to hold their shields and charge forward blindly.

The ghouls, skeleton soldiers, and even the bone dragons pouncing from the sky could not slow the skeleton army down for even a second.

To the skeleton army reinforced by the formation, these enemies weren't even qualified to be speed bumps. Bone dragons? They thought they had just run into some flies.

In a brief moment, these remnants were flattened by the skeleton army led by Bone Guard One.

Suddenly, Chen Xu caught a trace of an aura not far away. It was the unique aura belonging to the Lord of the Undead's authority, meaning that it was a competitor.

Perhaps frightened by the strength displayed by the skeleton army, the competitor had leaked their aura.

With a single glance from Chen Xu, the Black Knights moved out in full force, arriving before that candidate in an instant.

It turned out to be an Evil Spirit of Ice, a mythic-tier ghost. No wonder it had hidden so well, and no wonder it had even sent bone dragons to their deaths; it was a soul-type undead.

After the Black Knights surrounded it, Chen Xu also teleported over, flying in the air and looking down at the Evil Spirit of Ice.

"My name is Chen Xu!"

He followed the usual procedure and introduced himself.

After Chen Xu spoke, the Evil Spirit of Ice actually adjusted its posture and straightened its face before speaking slowly.

"My name is Ma-ji...ck."

After uttering the first two syllables, the Evil Spirit of Ice used some unknown method to teleport directly back to its territory. The final syllable, 'ck', only drifted over after a long pause.

"Damn, he’s got some tricks. No wonder that person back then was stalled by a ghost for so long."

This move revealed by Majick actually surprised Chen Xu.

He had already used his mental strength to reinforce the surrounding space, not to mention several Black Knights were releasing their divine power to interfere.

Under normal circumstances, casting a teleportation spell in such an environment would definitely have a noticeable wind-up, yet this ghost had vanished without any warning.

At this moment, having experienced it firsthand, Chen Xu wholeheartedly agreed with the Lord of the Undead who had originally established the territory rules.

"Well, the soul escaped, but the territory can't. All units, hear my command: Northern Expedition!"

At Chen Xu's order, dense crowds of undead creatures marched out from the rear. Abominations, necrotic knights, Skeleton Archers, and Skeleton Mages.

The sky was filled with a dense mass of Undead Bone Dragons and ghosts.

Currently, the mythic-tier combat power in Chen Xu's hands consisted of nine Black Knights, Bone Guard One reinforced by the army, Guixu, Sindragosa, and Kunpeng. Oh, and there was also Zhenyuan, the Ginseng Fruit Tree.

After Patchwerk stitched the giant mouth from Old Insight's belly onto himself, he possessed strength close to the mythic-tier, and along with Flideng, they could be considered half-step mythic-tier.

Thus, Chen Xu divided the undead army into two parts.

Bone Guard One, Zhenyuan, Sindragosa, Kunpeng, and the two half-step mythic-tier units led the skeleton soldiers, bone dragons, and some Skeleton Archers as one army.

The remaining undead creatures were led by the Black Knights as the second army.

As for Guixu, the space module on its body allowed for rapid support, so Chen Xu arranged for it to act as a battlefield roamer, ready to support any front at any time.
