Chapter 199 | Overtime Necromancy: My Legion Never Sleeps

Inside Majick's territory, the Evil Spirit of Ice sensed the aura coming from the south and sighed.

"O vast heavens, why are you so unkind to me? Why must my ghost race always be the first to face such terrifying opponents whenever we get involved in the struggle for the title of Necrotic Lord!"

After complaining, Majick intended to leave his territory.

Putting aside the sheer number of troops, it was far inferior to Chen Xu in terms of mythic-tier powerhouses alone.

Furthermore, it had only recently finished conquering another Necrotic Lord candidate and was not at its peak strength.

The candidate it had conquered was a giant skeleton with a naturally broken skull. Its soul was suppressed by Majick, so it hadn't taken much effort to seize the skeleton's territory.

Such a wonderful start had led Majick to believe that this would be the era of the ghost race's resurgence.

It thought of the newcomer to the south who had just ascended to godhood and had recently finished a battle with Old Insight.

Majick believed this was a god-given opportunity that would allow it to annex two territories at once—no, three.

Thus, it immediately dispatched its army, turning its blade toward the south.

It used heavily damaged undead creatures to lead the charge, intending to test the extent of Chen Xu's strength.

To its surprise, an army of never-before-seen, towering skeleton soldiers emitting an aura of extreme cold directly flattened its vanguard.

While these remnants were only meant for reconnaissance and possessed little combat power, it wasn't surprising they were crushed.

However, the strange style and ridiculous strength of the skeleton army's formation left Majick in shock, causing it to leak its aura.

The subsequent appearance of nine Black Knights radiating mythic-tier auras completely ended its fantasies.

Black Knights with the strength of gods immediately upon ascension? Where did this monster come from? Shouldn't such monsters only appear in the middle or late stages of the competition? How could it have encountered one right at the start?

In that moment, Majick’s heart turned to ash. Ghost race resurgence, the title of Necrotic Lord—all its ambitions vanished in an instant.

Fortunately, its talent for escaping didn't fail it. Managing to flee unscathed from ten mythic-tier beings was a feat worth bragging about.

Sensing the mythic-tier auras drawing closer, Majick no longer hesitated. Without a trace of lingering attachment, it abandoned the territory it had managed for so long and deliberately exposed its aura so Chen Xu could sense it.

In the south, Chen Xu also noticed the aura Majick had intentionally revealed.

"Tsk, he ran just like that? How boring. Even ghouls fight to the last breath, yet you, a high-tier undead creature, don't have a shred of backbone."

Chen Xu complained after discovering that Majick had discarded his territory and chosen to withdraw from the competition for the title of Necrotic Lord.

Chen Xu's army entered Majick's territory directly. Without orders from their Necrotic Lord, the wild undead creatures trembled in fear under the pressure of Chen Xu's forces.

Chen Xu expanded his mental strength, filling the territory with his own aura.

Soon, a streak of light flew from a distance—it was a Necrotic Lord authority fragment.

Chen Xu extended his mental strength toward it. Once the authority fragment sensed his mental strength, it hovered in place and began to vibrate.

The authority fragment deep within Chen Xu's soul also started to tremble.

After reaching a synchronized frequency, the external fragment turned into a streak of light, flew into the space between Chen Xu's brows, and began to merge.

His soul strength grew rapidly under the nourishment of the authority. Perhaps because it was currently the period of the necrotic tide, his soul strength increased even more than the last time.

Furthermore, a portion of the authority's origin actually split off and entered Chen Xu's Undead Kingdom.

【The Undead Kingdom has received an infusion of the Necrotic Lord authority's origin, gaining the trait: Sub-body】

【The Undead Kingdom has received an infusion of the Necrotic Lord authority's origin, gaining the area: Undead Throne Prototype】

"A trait?"

The integration of the authority's origin seemed to have added something new to the Undead Kingdom. This was the first time Chen Xu had seen a trait.

In the past, merging space fragments only expanded the space of the Undead Kingdom or added new areas.

Adding a trait was a first.

【Sub-body: The Undead Kingdom has received the recognition of the Land of the Undead, establishing a connection between the two. The Undead Kingdom will synchronize some of the special celestial phenomena of the Land of the Undead (for example, the necrotic tide).】

【Additionally, when the Undead Kingdom is shattered, its origin will be protected by the Land of the Undead, allowing the Undead Kingdom to be reshaped within the Land of the Undead.】

"Holy crap!"

Chen Xu couldn't help but exclaim after reading the effects of the 【Sub-body】 trait.

【Sub-body】 had two effects. The first was synchronizing the celestial phenomena of the Land of the Undead, which could be understood as a resource-type buff. Setting aside other special phenomena, just this necrotic tide alone would let Chen Xu gain a massive amount of troops for free once the Undead Kingdom synchronized with it.

As for the second effect, being able to be reborn in the Land of the Undead was equivalent to a protective function similar to a lich's soul box.

Now, if he encountered an unbeatable enemy, he could forcibly pull them into the Undead Kingdom and take a gamble using the kingdom's suppression.

Even if he failed and the Undead Kingdom was destroyed, it could be reshaped within the Land of the Undead, effectively giving him an extra trump card for a desperate gamble.

After examining the trait, Chen Xu continued to check the newly added area.

【Undead Throne Prototype: The prototype of the Necrotic Lord's supreme throne. Currently, there is only a pedestal. Hurry and collect more authority fragments to forge a throne that belongs to you!】

【After sitting on the throne, you will receive the empowerment of the Land of the Undead's world power.】

【(Mahogany, genuine leather, or perhaps a minimalist plastic stool style? Oh, what a difficult choice.)】

The Undead Throne Prototype was located within Chen Xu's Overlord's Castle.

Of course, at the moment, it was just a grayish-white pedestal that blended in with its surroundings. If one didn't know it was a throne, they might think it was just a bulge caused by poorly laid floor tiles during construction.

Chen Xu returned to the Undead Kingdom, walked up to the pedestal, turned around, and sat down heavily.

Instantly, a mysterious, massive, and high-existence level power flooded into Chen Xu's body. Under the empowerment of the Land of the Undead's world power, Chen Xu perceived the world like never before.

"Is this... what the world sees?"

Chen Xu stood up, the world power receded, and his familiar human senses returned.

World power, especially that of a special world, was still far too advanced for someone at the mere mythic-tier like Chen Xu.

Just now, the influx of world power had forcibly altered his sensory and cognitive modes.

Fortunately, with the authority in his possession, this change was not permanent. After leaving the throne, Chen Xu returned to his human perception.

Yet, that wondrous feeling still left Chen Xu with lingering fear. While it was a good thing, it wasn't something he could use right now.

He would try again after reaching the eternal-tier. Chen Xu felt that being human was quite good, and he didn't want to join the 'World' race just yet.
