Chapter 247 | Overtime Necromancy: My Legion Never Sleeps

【Necrotic Archmage Tower: A thousand-floor mage tower, the crystallization of Akhan's history. Each floor represents the wisdom and masterpiece of an archmage.

The first 333 floors represent the ancient period, the theoretical opening that laid the foundation of mage civilization.

The middle 333 floors represent the expansion period, a time of intellectual explosion with the most intense academic schools. Many new currents of thought emerged during this era, and the later Ten Schools also originated here.

The final 333 floors represent the post-apocalyptic period. Having experienced the disaster of Hell, a layer of shackles was placed upon the mages' intense thinking. Fear of the end times caused the development of mage civilization to stagnate during this period.

But truth is brilliant, and the process of seeking it is destined to include the mad. Even in this conservative era, many madmen emerged whose madness far surpassed that of their predecessors.

The very last floor is the history of the end of the Akhan civilization. A plain mage civilization became turbulent due to the successive attentions of Hell, Heaven, the undead, and calamity. Civilization was born of order and destroyed by order.

1. All creatures can enter the Necrotic Archmage Tower to learn and take on challenges. Among them, undead creatures will receive an increase in comprehension.

2. Floors 1–333 correspond to the epic-tier, 334–666 correspond to the legendary-tier, and 667–999 correspond to the mythic-tier. The final floor, the history of civilization's end, contains three eternal opportunities: calamity, undead, and truth.

3. The Lord of the Undead can project the Necrotic Archmage Tower into other worlds, allowing transcendent beings from those worlds to enter the tower for challenges and study. The mage tower will automatically record and organize the transcendent systems of all challengers.

4. The Necrotic Archmage Tower possesses growth potential. It is both a piece of equipment and a special region. Knowledge is the nourishment for the mage tower's growth; the more knowledge collected, the faster it grows. (Current status: Special eternal-tier equipment)

5. Knowledge is both power and a curse. The power of calamity has poured into the mage tower, granting you the ability to bury curses within knowledge.

6. The Necrotic Archmage Tower is not a dead object. If necessary, the tower will reveal its true form, showing those who invade the Dao court what true despair looks like.

(From the budding of the first life underwater... until the end of the world under external interference, this is a certain fate and the helplessness of the weak.

But knowledge is eternal, and truth is everlasting. Use the knowledge of your predecessors to meet the truth, and with your inheritance and unyielding will, break this tragic fate!

— Truth Wizard)】

It was indeed a new gain from refining the entire Akhan world; the description alone was much longer than those of other regions.

But it made sense. Other regions were transformed from space fragments, while this 【Necrotic Archmage Tower】 was derived from a complete world—and a large-scale mage world at that.

The 【Necrotic Archmage Tower】 had multiple functions. It could assist the growth of transcendents and enhance their abilities, and it could also aid Chen Xu in battle. After all, the mage tower itself was an eternal-tier piece of equipment, and items of such rank were rare.

Equipment of the 【Necrotic Archmage Tower】 type also had a common name across the myriad worlds: a legacy artifact.

A single piece of equipment represented the inheritance of a faction or a civilization. Whenever disaster struck, as long as the legacy artifact was not destroyed, there was still hope for a comeback.

Chen Xu happened to be lacking such a legacy artifact. He had too few people he could use; Sindragosa, Kunpeng, and Zhenyuan were all specially enhanced.

At most, there were only about a dozen of them, which was quite unfitting for his status as the Lord of the Undead.

As for those necrotic archdukes in the Land of the Undead, they were all old relics who had lived for untold ages, each with a mind as dark as the shadiest merchants in the City of Miracles.

Asking them to fight Hell was fine, but for anything else, their efforts would likely be half-hearted.

What Chen Xu needed were confidants. And what were confidants? Naturally, they were like the East and West Bureaus—granted imperial authority to act first and report later, and to oversee all officials.

With the Star Lords inside the Land of the Undead, there needed to be a corresponding organization outside the Land of the Undead to handle matters for Chen Xu.

This 【Necrotic Archmage Tower】 solved Chen Xu's problem perfectly.

With a wave of his hand, a massive undead army was thrown into the mage tower to start learning and climbing from the first floor.

He even set a KPI for them: they couldn't come out until they reached the 100th floor.

Then, Chen Xu beckoned toward the mage tower, and a miniature version of it appeared in his hand.

This was a model constructed from pure necrotic aura, and it also possessed a projection function. As long as it was placed within any world, it would automatically transform into the towering mage tower before him, allowing creatures to enter and seek knowledge.

Chen Xu planned to place one on Blue Star. Thanks to the World Will's job-holder system, the transcendent systems of Blue Star were as numerous as the stars in the sky. Placing a tower there should collect a significant amount of knowledge.

Since knowledge was the growth experience for the mage tower, Chen Xu intended to project it into other worlds as well. He would leave this task to Big Boss; the merchant caravans of the Wanbao Pavilion traveled throughout the myriad worlds and could conveniently place the projections.

Thus, Chen Xu snapped his fingers and pulled Big Boss directly into the Undead Dao Court.

Before Big Boss could ask anything, Chen Xu raised his hand. In an instant, he condensed ten thousand mage tower projections, compressed them into small spheres, and strung them together into a bracelet, which he placed in Big Boss's hand.

"Big Boss, when your caravans are traveling, have them distribute these beads. Placing one in each world will suffice."

"By your command, my Lord."

Big Boss didn't ask questions and quickly accepted the task.

Chen Xu nodded and waved him back to the Land of the Undead.

Next, Chen Xu turned his gaze toward the flock of gray ravens outside the mage tower.

【Death-Herald Gray Ravens: Holders of calamity power, they enjoy weaving a web of calamity behind their prey. This act of toying with the fates of others, however, also became the fuse that ended their own fate.

When calamity was ended by the undead, the power of calamity fell into the hands of the undead.

But the undead are very cunning; they did not directly wield the calamity power, but instead used these poor gray ravens to manifest it.

Whenever the cry of a Death-Herald Gray Raven sounds, a giant web that devours the fate of living beings falls. The cost is merely the dissipation of a single gray raven.

Consume one gray raven to bring calamity upon a legendary-tier or lower being.

Consume nine gray ravens to bring calamity upon a mythic-tier being.

Consume 999 gray ravens to bring calamity upon an eternal-tier being.

Consume all gray ravens to bring calamity upon a unique-tier being.

(Caw! Caw! Caw! I might not remember who was good to me, but I'll remember who offended me for a hundred million years!!! Say goodbye to your freshly washed car! Splat! The bird-dropping bomb hits with precision. — Ace Pilot Colonel Petty Crow)】

This flock of circling gray ravens was actually the incarnation of calamity power. It seemed the Calamity Dragon's schemes had ultimately benefited Chen Xu.

Chen Xu counted them; the current flock wasn't large, only about eight hundred ravens, but the number was constantly growing as time passed.

The gray ravens were not traditionally oviparous; they were directly manifested by the Undead Dao Court.

The power of calamity was decent enough; even if Chen Xu didn't use it directly, it could serve as a tool for comprehending Dao principles.

Now that the calamity was broken, Chen Xu had no other immediate worries.

Although the demon king soulstone in his hand might attract the attention of Hell, even if Hell didn't come for him, Chen Xu would eventually go to them.

"What should I do next?"

Chen Xu had a series of plans in his mind, and he finally had the time to implement them one by one.

"Better head back to Blue Star first and place the mage tower."

Chen Xu opened a spatial gate and stepped through, returning to Blue Star.

His return point was directly at the Dungeon Preparation Base. As soon as he emerged, he saw familiar faces dropping from the sky and rushing into the base.

Seeing this, Chen Xu couldn't help but feel curious. He wondered what had happened now.

Just then, a red dragon descended from the sky and transformed into a human form—it was Xiang Longwu.

Chen Xu quickly stepped forward and patted his shoulder.

"Brother Xiang, what's going on? Why the rush?"

"Eh? Brother Chen, you're back too? Old Xia said you were in the Akhan world fighting some Hell Demon King."

"Oh, that's all finished."

"So fast?!"

Although Xiang Longwu didn't know exactly how strong a Hell Demon King was, they certainly wouldn't be weak. For Chen Xu to slay one so quickly, just how far had his strength reached?
