Chapter 90 | Overtime Necromancy: My Legion Never Sleeps

The naga swarmed like a tide, easily tearing through the coastal defenses and charging toward the city of London.

At this moment, Chen Xu was sitting next to the operations center, nonchalantly munching on barbecue.

Having just secured a great victory during the day, the Yinglun army had organized a barbecue that evening to celebrate.

Unexpectedly, while they were eating barbecue and singing opera, the sea race launched a surprise attack.

The sheer speed and ferocity of the offensive caught the Yinglun army off guard while they were still immersed in the joy of victory, causing them to lose their positions before they could even react.

Seeing that the naga were about to reach them, Chen Xu considered summoning his undead army to meet them head-on.

However, he noticed that the Yinglun high-ranking officials nearby, as well as Elizabeth VI in her vehicle behind them, only had looks of slight surprise on their faces rather than panic, suggesting they still had a countermeasure.

Chen Xu simply opened another bottle of soda and settled in to watch the Yinglun performance.

"Shield of Sighs, fire form, activate!"

As the command fell, a surge of crimson energy erupted from the center of London, instantly enveloping the entire city.

Once the shield expanded, it directly pushed back the naga in the immediate vicinity.

The hot fire element energy and extreme heat caused any naga that touched the shield to be consumed by the violent flames.

The fire started from the naga vanguard and gradually spread backward.

Crack! Pop!

The popping and crackling of fat and the sound of searing, accompanied by the screams of the naga, formed the background music for the first act of tonight's great battle.

Aside from the sounds, there was also the rich aroma of burning protein. This scent was actually more fragrant and intense than the barbecue in front of him, prompting Chen Xu to take two deep, appreciative breaths of the air.

It seemed the theme of tonight's first act was a seafood feast.

Once the energy shield was established, it temporarily halted the naga's advance.

However, the consumption for an energy shield of this scale was bound to be high, especially when facing attacks from so many naga. Chen Xu guessed that Yinglun must have another card to play.

Whoosh— Whoosh—

The sound of high-pressure steam spraying came from behind.

A large number of steam tanks drove from the distant streets toward the naga.

Each steam tank was engraved with numerous runes and equipped with two cannons on top, with a row of high-speed rotating gears at the very front.

"Lord Hale, I didn't expect Yinglun to still use such retro technology."

Even before the dungeon era, steam technology had long been obsolete. He hadn't expected that over a hundred years into the dungeon era, Yinglun would still be using it.

Hale heard the underlying meaning in Chen Xu's words and explained, "This is no ordinary steam technology. It was unearthed from a dungeon, and legend has it that it originates from a god.

Although the technology we obtained is incomplete, it has allowed Yinglun to develop many powerful weapons."

"Technology originating from a god?"

Chen Xu hadn't expected that while Yinglun was small, it possessed quite a few good things.

"Actually, we aren't certain. It is only described as originating from a god in the records."

As the two talked, the steam tanks had already moved into position. Four supports extended from each tank, sinking deep into the ground.

Steam hissed from the exhaust vents. Inside the two cannon barrels, a terrifying amount of energy was being compressed.

Suddenly, the steam stopped venting as the energy reached its limit. Two elemental beams shot out from the barrels, striking the naga army ahead.

A single shot tore through the naga army, vaporizing over a thousand naga instantly.

After the first steam tank fired, the others followed suit in succession, firing dense elemental beams into the naga army in alternating volleys.

Chen Xu noticed that the first steam tank to fire did not immediately begin charging energy again but stayed perfectly still.

He raised his hand and pointed at that tank, intending to ask about it.

Before Chen Xu could speak, Hale said directly, "These big guys pack a punch, but they require time to charge and cool down. Therefore, they can only be effective when deployed in large numbers to fire in alternating volleys. Furthermore, the consumption of energy crystals is quite significant."

With the dual support of the energy shield and the steam tanks, the situation on land improved slightly, and the naga's momentum was broken.

Meanwhile, in the sea, Nask had already fought Kunpeng and the others for three hundred rounds.

As the second warrior of the naga race, Nask had always believed that his strength was second only to the Tyrant, Nasra.

Yet these massive sea beasts before him each possessed strength that was not inferior to his own, causing his physical advantage to vanish completely.

Particularly the one that had bitten his weapon earlier; its strength was so exaggerated that it was even more terrifying than his own, perhaps even rivaling the Tyrant himself.

Fortunately, these sea beasts only fought using their physical instincts. Aside from that eerie suction, they didn't seem to have any other moves.

Nask, however, was a battle-hardened naga commander. Relying on his vast combat experience, he nimbly dodged all of the Bone Kun attacks.

He could even seize opportunities to launch counterattacks, leaving one hideous scar after another on the Bone Kun bodies.

Alright, Nask had to admit that aside from their absurd strength, these sea beasts also had maximum defense.

"They are truly natural war machines. It's a pity they are mindless beasts that cannot be communicated with."

Nask sighed inwardly.

After witnessing the strength of the Bone Kun, Nask had entertained the idea of taming it. However, no matter what method of communication he tried, he received no response, so he abandoned the idea of capturing them as pets.

The Bone Kun attack patterns remained unchanged. Four Bone Kuns surrounded Nask and took turns charging at him, constantly compressing his range of movement.

Kunpeng stayed at the very bottom, blocking Nask's escape route and occasionally flicking its tail upward to stir the water and interfere with Nask's movement.

But these child-like maneuvers were not taken seriously by Nask.

Even as the Bone Kun circle drew closer, he wasn't worried at all.

With his combat experience, even if they were face-to-face, as long as Nask didn't want them to, these sea beasts wouldn't touch a single hair on his body.

His massive trident swung faster and faster, and the bodies of the four Bone Kuns were covered in scratches.

Only Kunpeng was slightly better off, with only a few scrapes on its head.

After being knocked back by the trident once again, Kunpeng looked at the surrounding circle, which had shrunk to only ten meters.

Nask's arrogance had led him to stop deliberately maintaining distance from the Bone Kuns as he had at the start.

At ten meters, his trident could efficiently attack these sea beasts in rotation. Moreover, the offensive of his tribesmen above had slowed down again; those useless fools needed him to go and lead them.

In his impatience, he adopted this aggressive fighting style.

Suddenly, Kunpeng accelerated instantly, opening its massive mouth and lunging toward Nask.

Nask didn't care. He slightly adjusted his posture and continued his attack on the four surrounding Bone Kuns.

Unexpectedly, just as his trident struck the armor of one Bone Kun, the bone plates on it suddenly exploded. Furthermore, it wasn't just one; the bony scales of all four Bone Kuns detonated at the exact same time.

Thick scales, nearly a meter in length and width, shot toward Nask from all directions.

Because the distance was too close and the number of scales was so high, Nask had no room to dodge.

He could only spin his trident while activating the defensive items on his body to endure this sudden onslaught.

The bone plates struck Nask like cannonballs. Upon impact, they exploded again, turning into countless tiny shards that sprayed outward.

These small shards were incredibly sharp, easily piercing through Nask's scales and ignoring his defensive magic to sink directly into his flesh.

Intense pain surged into Nask's brain. As a warrior who had fought for many years, he shouldn't have howled like a coward over a minor injury.

But the bone shards that had pierced his body brought him immense agony that surpassed any wound in his memory.

Before he could continue howling, Kunpeng's massive mouth lunged from below.

Nask's lower body was swallowed into Kunpeng's mouth.

Feeling the strange suction from below, Nask made a split-second decision. He placed his trident horizontally to wedge it against Kunpeng's closing jaws.

He pulled out two daggers from the necklace on his chest and slashed at his own waist.

With two swift cuts, his lower body was swallowed by Kunpeng. Nask activated a teleportation spell, transporting himself two kilometers away. Dragging his mangled torso, he fled toward the depths of the ocean.
