Chapter 121 | Please Stop Possessing Me, Lord Evil God!

The gate of the abyss above Axi Town remained frozen in place. Turbulent energy raged like a storm, tearing at Grinya Loran's skin like ten thousand blades. Red and black-green veins intertwined on her face, making her look both grotesque and terrifying.

She knelt at the entrance of the abyss, her arms spread wide, using her own body to prevent the abyss from expanding further.

Not far away lay Alesta's corpse. The moment Grinya had appeared, Alesta, clad in his white biohazard suit, had seen her immediately.

But before Alesta could even react, Grinya had unleashed a golden flash of sword light, killing the stunned bishop instantly.

The grand bishop of the Diao Cult had died as miserably as a stray dog on the side of the road.

"Fucking idiot! Idiot!"

Grinya was exhausted to the point of collapse, but she didn't dare relax for even a second.

Furious shouts and curses rang in her ears, a voice that struck her very soul. It carried an unimaginable impact for a mortal, and only because she had undergone an ascension was she able to endure it.

She raised her hollow eyes and looked through the deep, swirling membrane. On the other side of the abyss, she saw the Plague God jumping in frustration.

Heh, how ironic.

The legendary, high-and-mighty god behaved no differently than a monkey who had its banana stolen when its interests were at stake.

Gods weren't actually that terrifying; they were merely a group of intelligent lifeforms who possessed greater power. She didn't have the vast strength of a god, but she was never fighting for herself. Behind her stood Yiertaya, the Katar Kingdom, and the entire human race!

She felt no fear, and even less regret!

Thanks to the God of Order, she could not only see the Plague God's unsightly behavior but also hear every sentence He cursed in His desperation. Though the filth was unbearable to the ear, hearing it actually made Grinya sharpen her focus and feel a surge of excitement.

Hey, that was a god!

She had angered a god, and that god could do nothing to her!

Wasn't that something to be proud of?

The corners of her mouth curled up involuntarily, but in the next second, the power of the abyss exploded from within. This energy was so violent it nearly tore Grinya to shreds, and she almost failed to stop the abyss from expanding.

But she was also reaching her limit.

At this moment, she wished so much that someone could be by her side.

If only Lord Xun Shen were still here...

"If you stay here, you'll eventually be assimilated by the abyss."

Suddenly, a familiar voice fell upon her ears. Her body stiffened, and she snapped her head up. Her eyes, which had lost all color, regained their vibrancy in an instant.

Her body trembled with excitement. Her lips parted slightly as she whispered in a voice filled with disbelief:

"Lord Xun Shen?" She didn't even dare call out loudly, fearing that the great being was merely a dying hallucination.

"I'm here."

She heard it clearly this time. In the next second, tears streamed uncontrollably from her eyes.

She buried her head and began to sob.

"Lord Xun Shen, I didn't let you down, did I?" she asked.

"Mhm, you did very well. You are truly... my girl!" After a brief pause, the voice spoke with even greater certainty.

"But I need some time to descend into this era. Before I do, can you hold on for a bit longer?" the voice asked again.

"I won't let you down," Grinya said without hesitation, her voice choked with tears but exceptionally firm.

"Wonderful. As expected of my Peerless Fencer," Lu Xun's tone held a hint of pride.

It was the kind of feeling a father has when watching his daughter finally grow up.

However, he hadn't told Grinya about the even greater danger yet, because he didn't want to make the girl nervous.

Because next, she might have to face the pressure of the God of Chaos...

Could a human endure the weight of a supreme god?

Lu Xun didn't know. He barely understood the gap between gods and humans. He was just an ordinary human who had somehow intervened and inexplicably become a god.

Just a few days ago, he was worrying about final exams, and now he was a savior tasked with rescuing the world.

Could reality get any more absurd?

...

"Cough, cough!"

Grinya coughed heavily, spitting blood onto the ground.

Her consciousness was fading. Both her mind and body were slowly merging with the abyss as time passed.

It was a slow process, but it was agonizingly painful.

So painful that she couldn't speak, nor did she want to think about anything.

So this is what death feels like...

The Plague God also saw that the girl was reaching her limit. He gradually stopped his tantrum and began to observe the weakened girl intently.

"Humanity... knowing their own weakness, yet always deceiving themselves with meaningless things like courage and wisdom. Thinking these ethereal concepts can change their fate... it's truly beyond foolish!" the Plague God mocked with a laugh.

"There's a word for this among you humans... what was it again? Ah, right—idealism!" The Plague God laughed out loud, then whispered the word again, "Idealism..."

"What a stupid word. Isn't it just a term made up by useless trash who have no ability, can achieve nothing, and are too afraid to face the tragic reality, relying instead on fantasies to deceive themselves?"

"This is the only thing about you humans I envy. At least when it comes to self-deception, I couldn't pull it off."

The mockery on the Plague God's face grew thicker, and Grinya's pain intensified. Although she desperately didn't want to disappoint Lord Xun Shen, her body was reaching its breaking point.

"I really can't understand you humans. You clearly can't change anything, yet you never tire of doing these things."

The Plague God shook His head and said lazily, "Fine, you can't stop me anymore. I'm coming out."

As He spoke, He reached out and actually grabbed Grinya's wrist, which was holding the frame of the abyss gate. This was something the Plague God hadn't been able to do before, which meant the seal of the abyss had reached an extremely fragile stage!

Grinya's face was deathly pale. She bit her lower lip in frustration.

Even sacrificing her life wasn't enough to stop a god?

Was everything she had done truly meaningless?

The Plague God looked at Grinya's expression, a cruel grin spreading across His face.

Just as He was about to cast Grinya's arm aside, a sudden commotion erupted in Axi Town.

The Plague God didn't care about the source of the noise, but when the edge of a golden domain swept across the area in seconds and touched Him, He immediately felt the extraordinary nature of this domain. His expression froze in shock.
