Chief Instructor Ryder left, leaving Tyr standing there in a daze.
A moment later, he suddenly gasped.
“Hiss... What he said actually makes a lot of sense.”
Tyr had to admit that he had still underestimated the depth and foundation of a top-tier family on the continent.
...
On the other side, after leaving Tyr's dormitory, Aetheline returned to the dormitory building arranged for them in the Sword Prison.
At this moment, the mages of the White Magic Tower were gathered in the lobby, communicating and comparing notes with one another, which would allow them to formulate better treatment plans.
In the eyes of many, mages were full of pride.
After all, in some respects, mages could be considered the smartest group of people, and the development of magic was essentially the analysis of the world.
Because of this, mages often looked down on others, especially transcendents like swordsmen and warriors who only used brute force, viewing them as muscle-bound fools.
But when facing a colossal financial backer like House Callis, even the pride of mages had to give way.
There was no helping it; relying on themselves, they really couldn't scrape together that much research funding.
Therefore, for the task of helping the reserves soothe their minds during each Grand Election, the members of the White Magic Tower strove for absolute perfection.
By performing well, they hoped the Grand Duke would approve more funding.
“What's wrong, little Aetheline?”
Seeing Aetheline enter with a solemn expression, a white-haired, blue-eyed old man with a kindly aura in the crowd asked.
He was one of the elders of the White Magic Tower's Council of Elders and the leader of this mission, Luens Stephen. He was also the only high-level mage in this team, possessing a Seventh Circle cultivation.
Naturally, simply soothing the minds of the reserves did not require such a powerful White Mage; his presence was only to handle any unexpected situations.
In the lobby, the gazes of the others also fell upon her one after another. Aetheline was an absolute genius in the White Magic Tower.
They were curious about what kind of problem Aetheline had encountered that even she found it troublesome.
“Elder Luens, I think I've run into a problem.”
Next, Aetheline explained the problem she had encountered with Tyr to Luens in detail, specifically emphasizing that she had checked twice and still found no issues.
“Little Aetheline, why don't you think that Young Master Tyr really doesn't have any problems?”
After listening to Aetheline's description, Luens asked with a smile.
“But... he's only eight years old.”
Could an eight-year-old child really remain completely unaffected after experiencing such things?
Aetheline had never killed anyone, but as a healing mage, she had seen many bloody scenes.
Back then, just looking at those patients had made her stomach churn, and she had to go outside for a breath of fresh air for a long time before recovering.
Only after a considerable period of training did she gradually suppress her physiological fear.
“Oh, child, as a healing mage, you have made a rather fatal mistake: empiricism.”
“Why can't an eight-year-old child have a strong mindset? What if he once received some kind of blessing that keeps his mind pure?”
“Little Aetheline, all of your past treatment experience can serve as a reference when treating new patients, but it cannot be used as absolute proof.”
“As long as there is nothing wrong with your magic circuits, then all of your diagnoses should be based on the results of your magic examinations, even if those results might seem unbelievable.”
One must know that many illnesses only have subtle differences during examinations, but the actual root cause could be worlds apart.
Luens very patiently pointed out Aetheline's mistake and guided her.
Hearing Luens instructing Aetheline, all the other White Mages around them subconsciously quieted down and pricked up their ears.
“Thank you, Elder Luens, I understand.”
Realization dawned upon Aetheline. Indeed, why must she assume that an eight-year-old child was absolutely incapable of maintaining a pure heart when facing cruelty?
“Very good, little Aetheline. Once this mission is over and we return, you should go out and travel more. The White Magic Tower has plenty of knowledge and heritage, but staying in the White Magic Tower all the time will make your thinking rigid.”
“You should go out more and see the world with your own eyes, rather than just reading about it in the books of your predecessors.”
For anyone's growth, broadening one's horizons was a highly important part.
“I will.”
Aetheline nodded. She indeed wanted to travel and use her white magic to help more people, rather than working behind closed doors in the White Magic Tower all the time.
“But if that's the case, won't I be useless here?”
Aetheline suddenly realized that they had come here to help soothe the minds of the reserves, but since Young Master Tyr had absolutely no issues in this regard, wouldn't her presence here be meaningless?
“How could that be, little Aetheline? The training in the Sword Prison is extremely grueling. Even if you just cast a minor spell to relax Young Master Tyr's body after a long day of exhaustion, isn't that also help?”
“As a healer, little Aetheline, our goals are not just those rare and complicated diseases.”
“Any issue that causes harm to the human body, even if it is just some minor illness or pain, is a target we must resolve.”
Magic was created to be used by people. As White Mages, they existed to heal, so whether it was a major illness or a minor ailment, it should not be ignored by them.
This was the responsibility that a White Mage ought to bear.
Aetheline said, “I understand.”
...
Three days later, training resumed as usual for everyone.
When stepping out of the dormitory building in the morning, Tyr could see that although the other reserves still looked somewhat listless, they were no longer in the miserable state of the first day, with bloodshot eyes and pale faces.
Sevira had completely returned to normal, which was largely thanks to Tyr's efforts.
Over the past three days, after finishing her treatment every day, Sevira would go to Tyr's room to play with him.
Tyr taught Sevira some other ways to play poker, and even cobbled together chess and Reversi. In the end, the four of them simply played mahjong in the room.
In terms of relaxation, the effects of these games were remarkably significant.
When the game got exciting, Sevira even learned to stand up and slam her tiles onto the table.
Thanks to the healers' advice to fully relax, Mia did not correct Sevira's etiquette at this time.
Tyr had also used these three days to compile his own spice encyclopedia.
The plants in this world were not entirely identical to those on Earth from his past life. There were some plants he couldn't find in 《The Encyclopedia of Plants》, but the good news was that he had found substitutes for all of them.
