“Ronal?!”
The receptionist's voice drew the attention of everyone inside the Mercenary Guild.
As mercenaries who lived on the edge of life and death year-round, they had received word of Ronal's bounty the moment it was first posted.
A peak Third Circle warrior had sneaked into a Baron's manor to steal Fourth Circle advancement knowledge, and had ultimately escaped.
After Ronal's bounty was posted, it wasn't as if no one had thought about hunting him down.
However, the strength of a peak Third Circle was truly not an easy realm to deal with.
In the world of commoners, a Third Circle was already an incredible expert.
A Fourth Circle was a mainstay pillar, and a Fifth Circle was a grand figure whom one would feel honored to even catch a glimpse of.
Thus, although most mercenaries coveted Ronal's bounty, they could do little more than drool over the massive sum.
There were indeed Fourth and Fifth Circle mercenaries searching for Ronal's whereabouts.
But for one thing, there were too few mercenaries at that level.
And for another, Ronal was quite skilled at hiding; otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to escape that Baron's territory unscathed.
So up until now, they hadn't heard any news about Ronal at all.
Now, the first news they heard was actually a kid carrying Ronal's head in to claim the reward.
The mercenaries inside the Mercenary Guild crowded toward the counter, straining their necks to look in its direction.
"Hiss..."
When they clearly saw the face of the head on the tray, they collectively gasped.
It really was Ronal.
At first, they had been highly surprised, thinking Tyr had only killed a Second Circle Transcendent.
They never expected that the one Tyr killed wasn't some Second Circle Transcendent, but Ronal, who was considered peak even among Third Circle Transcendents.
Just who was this kid?
“Sir, regarding the collection of the bounty, is your partner not coming?”
After a brief moment of shock, the receptionist naturally assumed that Ronal couldn't have been killed by Tyr. He must have other partners, who were at least peak Third Circle Transcendents.
Upon hearing the receptionist's words, looks of understanding appeared on the mercenaries' faces.
Of course. Just because he brought Ronal's head didn't mean he was the one who killed Ronal.
Couldn't it be that some other expert had killed Ronal and sent him over to collect the bounty?
Thinking about it this way, this explanation seemed much more plausible.
“I don't have a partner,” Tyr said calmly. He could guess the receptionist's train of thought, but they were strangers who had only met by chance, so he felt no obligation to explain.
“Ah? Oh, oh...”
The receptionist was stunned. Had he really killed Ronal himself?
Just how old was he? Looking at his face, he was definitely under twenty.
A peak Third Circle Transcendent under twenty? He must have come from some grand noble family.
“Hiss... He actually killed him himself.”
“You believe that? He doesn't even look twenty.”
“Why is that impossible? You probably don't know how absurdly gifted the descendants of those grand noble families are.”
“Have you seen them?”
“I haven't, but I've heard they can all reach the Third Circle before they even reach adulthood.”
“Third Circle before adulthood... Tsk.”
The Third Circle... For ordinary people like them, that was a goal they might have to work their entire lives to achieve.
“Can you give me the proof of kill now?”
Seeing the receptionist dazed, Tyr spoke up to remind her.
“Oh, yes, of course. Please wait a moment.”
Snapping out of it, the receptionist retrieved a magic tool that looked like a Rubik's cube from beneath the counter. As magic power was channeled into it, the originally gray magic tool gradually turned blue, and then a beam of blue light shot out from a small opening on the cube.
After the blue light scanned Ronal's head, about three seconds passed before the blue cube turned green.
Then, a small slot opened at the bottom of the cube, and a silver ring dropped out.
“Sir, please give me your mercenary badge. I need to verify and upload the information.”
Whether it was the Mercenary Guild or the Adventurer's Guild, if one wanted to accept quests or claim bounties, they first had to become an official mercenary or adventurer.
“I'm not a mercenary.”
“Is that so? Then would you like to consider registering as a mercenary here? It's very convenient. Once you have a mercenary badge, you can accept and complete quests at any Mercenary Guild on the continent in the future.”
Tyr: "..."
For a brief moment, he felt as if he were looking at the bank tellers from his previous life who would try to recommend credit cards to him.
“Then I'll register as a mercenary.”
Tyr ultimately decided to "get the card." In any case, he didn't plan on carrying a severed head all the way back to Valenhill.
“Alright, sir. You only need to think of a codename for yourself, and then leave a trace of your magic power here.”
The receptionist once again pulled out a crystal from beneath the counter. It really was like a treasure chest.
Tyr reached out, placed his hand on the crystal, and channeled a wisp of magic power into it.
“As for the codename... let's go with Xuanyuan.”
Xuanyuan was an important symbol in Chinese history.
“Alright.”
Tyr watched the receptionist operate a magical item on the counter that looked like a computer. Soon, a silver pentagonal badge was generated from the magic tool.
“Sir, the mercenary ranks in the Mercenary Guild, from lowest to highest, are: Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Emerald, Diamond, Epic, and Legend.”
“In addition to earning bounties by accepting quests from the Mercenary Guild, you also gain points. Once you have enough points, you can raise your mercenary rank.”
“Different mercenary ranks allow you to enjoy different levels of service in the Mercenary Guild. I have already credited the points for your kill on Ronal, so you are now a Silver-rank mercenary.”
The points gained from killing a peak Third Circle Transcendent were enough to allow a rookie mercenary to directly promote to Silver.
“Sir, this is your proof of killing Ronal,” the receptionist said, pushing the ring in front of Tyr. Then she bent down and retrieved a small cloth bag from beneath the counter. “And this is the bounty for killing Ronal.”
“Uh, thank you.”
Tyr nodded, taking the mercenary badge and the proof of Ronal's kill from the receptionist.
Honestly, he highly doubted he would ever visit a place like the Mercenary Guild again in the future.
But it didn't matter. In any case, it had indeed solved his current trouble.
“Are there any caravan escort quests to Valenhill here?”
Since he had already become a mercenary anyway, Tyr planned to hitch a ride back.
Riding a horse in white robes across the world sounded very carefree and joyous, but in truth, it wasn't very comfortable at all.
Besides, he wasn't in a hurry right now, so he planned to find a caravan escort quest and hitch a ride on their carriage.
