Women really are born liars.
If Faust hadn't actually experienced everything while conscious, he would never have suspected anything just by looking at the two beautiful girls.
"Well then, thank you both very much (gritting his teeth)."
Faust remained silent for a moment, deciding to pretend he knew nothing.
If he exposed it now, Selena would likely be overwhelmed with shame and resentment. Although it could serve as leverage to suppress her, it was more likely to provoke a rebellious psychological reaction.
That would have a very negative impact on the future work of uniting the crowns; I shall not do so.
"As long as you know."
Selena's gloved hand was tightly clenched as she instinctively held it to her lips, exhaling softly and checking for any lingering scent before letting go.
Compared to the slightly nervous Snow White, the habitual offender Viviana appeared much more natural. She leaned in close to Faust.
"Your Highness, how is your body?"
Faust let out a long breath and stretched. The sounds of bone-rattling thuds were transmitted from his skeleton and muscles to his auditory nerves. His body, strengthened by the great thunder mark, had not only enhanced his Supreme Bone; it had made leaps in progress in every aspect.
Even though he hadn't advanced in rank yet, Faust figured that with thunder in his grasp, he wouldn't be any weaker than a powerhouse of the 【hero】 rank.
The prince smiled and said, "Wonderful, I've never felt better. I didn't faint because of physical exhaustion; rather, the thunder was tempering my body."
Selena crossed her arms. "That thunder spell from before..."
Faust beat her to the punch. "It was a fairy's blessing."
"Because of the courage I showed and the achievements I made, a fairy blessed me, allowing me to turn the tide."
During his unconscious state, Faust had already worked out an explanation with Mephistopheles, firmly insisting that Great Thunder was a technique from a fairy's blessing.
Regardless, the age of gods had passed long ago. Aside from ancient entities like the titan's core, few in the modern era knew what divine authority was.
As for which fairy gave the blessing? There was no need to worry about that question, as the vast majority of heroes blessed by fairies never knew which specific fairy it was or what their name was.
Except for those unlucky enough to be chosen as celestial gods, fairies didn't go around telling their names to everyone.
Selena had already expected this answer and nodded without saying much. Only Viviana, the human lie detector, noticed something was amiss.
However, the loyal knight girl naturally wouldn't press the prince on a secret he was deliberately hiding. As long as it wasn't related to emotions, there was no need.
Faust got out of bed and stretched his limbs toward the morning sun.
"Ah, as expected of a fairy's blessing. Even if I were to face the dragon's eye again, I might not necessarily lose."
Selena's brow furrowed slightly. "What dragon's eye?"
"Hmm? The dragon pupil that the magic mirror transformed into, the incarnation of the curse."
The black-haired beauty tilted her head. "How could such a thing exist? If there truly were an incarnation of a fiend related to an evil dragon, how could the Midwinter Kingdom still be so stable? According to the laws of dragonslaying, a large number of interventionist forces would have already entered and stationed themselves in the kingdom."
"Your Highness, perhaps you should lie down and rest a while longer."
A rare look of guilt appeared on Viviana's melancholic and calm face. She likely felt that she had drained Faust so much that his memory was becoming muddled.
Only then did Faust realize something was wrong. After some conversation, he discovered that the situation was the same as when he first emerged from the basement: everyone's memories had been slightly altered, and they were completely unaware of it.
In their understanding, the incarnate curse born after the magic mirror shattered was not the dragon's eye, but a fiend in the form of a giant serpent.
Even the reinforcing troops weren't that numerous—just a few mercenary groups.
It seemed the impact of this "Midwinter Civil War" was being tightly restricted within the borders of the Midwinter Kingdom by some power, not spreading outward in the slightest.
Just as the prince was deep in thought, Mephistopheles's voice rang in his mind.
【Oh, right. I almost forgot to tell you. The correction of the witches' feast began after you fainted. Many details will not match your memory.】
【The reason the son of man is completely unaware of the existence of witches is not because their influence is weak, but because any impact exceeding a certain range is erased by the wheel of destiny. The disasters brought about by a witch running wild are no less than those of an evil dragon.】
【My dear Faust, why don't you try to guess how many moons and continents there were originally in this world?】
What did it mean? Weren't there only one moon and one continent in this world? Everyone knew that common knowledge.
But at this moment, Mephistopheles's words were already crystal clear. Faust tapped his head and stopped asking.
"It really is so. I just woke up, and my mind is a bit slow."
Dismissing the matter lightly, Faust moved on to the next topic.
"So the current situation..."
"The curse has been lifted, and the civil war is over."
Selena reached out, signaling the Prince of Qingxi to take her hand. She then led him to the balcony of the bedroom. Looking out from the castle perched atop the mountain, they could see that the horizon, which should have been covered in ice and snow, was now a vibrant green.
"Just yesterday, the ice and snow across the entire Midwinter territory melted. A warm and eternal summer has returned to this land."
"My knight, you have fulfilled your promise and slain the curse for me."
With a smile on her lips, Selena tightly grasped Faust's large hand.
Thinking back to when she first met him, although the princess had been confident they could end the curse together, she hadn't expected it to take only a few short months.
Faust looked at Selena.
Under the reflection of the sunlight, Snow White's beauty was breathtaking. Those eyes, which should have been full of pride and confidence—even aggressively so—were now filled with soft joy.
A cycle of pain lasting thousands of years had been severed by her beloved's hand, giving the black-haired girl every reason to feel happy.
"So, how should I reward your achievements? My knight."
Faust nodded.
"My goal has never changed. I came here to make Snow White happy. If we could enter into a marriage contract, it would be for the best."
Selena let out a cold laugh. "A marriage contract... I knew you were still thinking about the power and position of the Midwinter Kingdom. You've certainly put a lot of thought into this."
Good grief, such utilitarian words cannot be said! Whatever you do, don't let the heavens hear this and slap a 'playing with a girl's feelings' Christmas hat on me!
It's too terrifying; I cannot bear that accusation.
Having just learned about the horrific degree of alteration the wheel of destiny could perform, the prince did not dare to invite divine punishment.
Faust quickly said, "My love for Snow White is not tainted by even a fraction of political consideration. Even if the union brings not a single bit of benefit, even if all my own wealth and glory are stripped away, I will never regret it and will proceed without looking back!"
"I, Faust, love the beauty more than the realm!"
"Clap clap clap clap—"
As soon as the prince finished speaking, Viviana began to clap excitedly, her face flushing red.
That's it! That's exactly it, Your Highness!
Selena had originally just been joking, but seeing the man refute her so definitively, she was momentarily stunned before smiling.
"Is that so? Hmph, I really can't do anything with you. In that case, I need a formal proposal ceremony, right here."
She had thought she would be the one to confess and admit defeat, but she hadn't expected Faust to be the first to surrender. Heh, in this battle of wits in love, victory is mine after all...
"Please wait a moment, Selena."
Just as Snow White reached out her hand, intending to have Faust kneel on one knee and propose to her, the voice of the Queen of Midwinter drifted in.
Mature, cold, and charming in her black veil and dress, the older sister walked into the room. she looked at the princess and the prince, her eyelids lowering slightly as she spoke slowly.
"Faust is to enter into a marriage contract with Snow White. But in this kingdom, there is more than one Snow White. We should let Faust choose which one he wants to propose to."
