Chapter 158 | Reincarnated as a Prince in a Twisted Fairy Tale World

Beast-ear girls are wonderful; without them... I cannot imagine how dull this world would be!

Faust maintained a firm stance on this: he had to pursue a perfect ending, and a perfect ending there would be.

Seeing Alkin's stunned expression, Sylvia seemed to have finally regained some ground as she said with a bitter smile:

"That is right. Killing everyone... or at least, killing all the wolf-kin, is the only way to satisfy the Moon Deity. As for the others in the kingdom, perhaps they might have a chance to escape judgment."

"Now you understand? We have no choice. Either we exist like the walking dead, or everyone dies without a grave! The Fog Moon Kingdom died long ago; it is merely being dragged along without a burial."

"If one does not care for tomorrow or the future, things are fine as they are, but you..."

Sylvia did not continue. She knew her kin too well; Alkin was not the type to compromise.

As expected, Alkin's eyelids lowered slightly.

"I will not give up my freedom. If this is the only way to obtain it... then destruction must come before creation. I cannot afford to be soft-hearted."

"Whoa, hold on!"

Faust hurriedly intervened. The clear and resolute look in Alkin's eyes left no doubt about her determination.

If Faust had not intruded upon this 【witches' feast】, the next step in the process would likely have been for 【Little Red Riding Hood】 and the 【Hunter】 to begin a mindless slaughter, turning the Fog Moon Kingdom into a river of blood.

What happened to the 【witches' feast】 being about love and beauty? Why was it so decisive and bloodthirsty?

Well... sweeping away all corruption to welcome new life in a fresh dawn was indeed romantic and positive in its own way, but it was not quite perfect.

According to the tales of 【witches】 Mephistopheles had told him, destroying a few kingdoms on a whim was actually quite normal.

Alkin looked at the man and asked:

"Faust, do you have any better suggestions?"

The Prince nodded and asked the white-haired girl:

"Alkin, did you just awaken a mystery trait? Can you access its information?"

"Oh, this? I have always had it. Are you curious about it?"

The white wolf chuckled and extended her hand. "Come, I will not hide anything from my partner."

Faust took the hand of the Hunter and shared the information through an inspection spell.

【Flame of the Wolf-Hour】

【In the dark jungle, harmful beasts lie in wait. At dusk, in the hours of the night, it is time for the pack to emerge.】

【Dear child, use fire to drive away the harmful beasts. Whether walking on the main road or traveling along a path, your flames can dispel darkness, fear, and malice.】

【You shall redefine what constitutes a wolf pack and delineate the boundary between civilization and the wild.】

【The Eternal-Feminine draws us upward.】

Faust examined Alkin's "witch talent" and fell into deep thought.

Clearly, this was a talent with absolute suppression over "beasts," perfectly suited for the stage of the Fog Moon Kingdom. With it, Alkin was virtually unstoppable and invincible.

It should be said that the talents of 【witches】 were specialized, designed to provide deus ex machina-like abilities within their own scripts of fate. However, their mechanics and stats were so broken that they could be applied universally.

And Alkin's "talent" undoubtedly had its own hidden mechanics.

【Hmm... so that is the grace she received. Faust, do you have any good ideas? You are the expert on the "witches' feast," after all. Just trust your intuition.】

"Mephisto, I plan to do something big again... By the way, you only need the remaining shell of the Moon Deity as a material, right?"

【That is correct. I am not acquainted with this deity. In fact, few fairies are. He is already in a half-dead state anyway, so there is no need to worry.】

"Then I understand."

The Prince took one last look at the blood moon in the sky. Even after being left hanging for so long, it showed no reaction, as if it would remain suspended there forever unless Alkin claimed her reward.

Faust took a deep breath.

"Qin, there is no other way. Let us kill the Moon Deity."

Since the Moon Deity would only lift the isolation once all bestial nature in the kingdom was eradicated, making the instigator disappear would achieve the same goal without the need for a massacre.

"Hmm?"

As soon as those words were spoken, everyone fell silent. Alkin's reaction was relatively mild; she simply parted her lips slightly and tilted her head, looking rather cute.

But Sylvia and the other wolf-kin erupted:

"Slay the Great Moon?! What are you talking about?!"

"Foreigner! Such defiance and arrogance!"

...

Faust frowned and looked at Sylvia and the others.

"What are you so worked up about? Was it not your own ancestors who first betrayed the Moon Deity, wounding him into the walking machine he is today?"

Who were they showing loyalty to now? It was strange.

The wolf-kin turned red at the Prince's counter-question, stammering:

"It is different... this is different... we cannot keep making mistakes..."

"Regardless, he is still the deity who civilized the pack..."

"Always grateful, always remembering, always moved to tears..."

Alkin also shook her head.

"We are the kin of the Moon Deity. For all these years, everyone in the kingdom has received the Great Moon's blessings. If you want to kill him... you need to sweeten the deal. This reason alone is not enough to convince me."

So, there was room for negotiation.

Faust thought for a moment. "Then let us put it another way: let us bring release to the Moon Deity. In his current state, living is more painful than death. Think of it as allowing your Great Moon to finally find peace and breaking the cycle of the Fog Moon Kingdom."

The same meaning, just phrased differently, made it much easier to accept.

Alkin tapped her cheek with her finger and said:

"True. But the problem is, even if we have the motive for deicide, how do we reach the Moon Deity?"

A deity high in the heavens was an existence mortals could not interfere with. Only in the past had the pack ancestors, driven by their wild nature, managed to bite the god.

"That is where my plan comes in."

Faust smiled and said to Sylvia:

"Do you have any way to communicate with the outside world?"

The black-haired, red-eyed wolf-kin pursed her lips and said:

"The Moon Deity's isolation prevents people from leaving the kingdom, but foreigners and inanimate objects are exceptions. We have always maintained a limited exchange of supplies and information with the outside."

The Prince laughed. "That is perfect. It saves me a trip back."

That was right; Faust planned to call Viviana and Selena over.

Nowadays, the greatest help 【witches】 could provide Faust was not even their own talents, but the side effects produced when 【witches】 collided: distorting the path of fate and causing the wheel of destiny to momentarily stall.
