Chapter 39 | Survival for All: The Tower Witch with E-Rank Talent

【Mana, materials, money, stamina, spirit—everything an alchemist has exists for the sake of alchemy. And alchemy will surely reward such devotion. Remember, alchemy is omnipotent! —by Albert】

Lan Qingyou slept very soundly that night.

She even dreamed of herself soaring through the air with arms outstretched, looking down at the crowds below struggling to survive.

It was a beautiful dream.

When she woke up the next morning, Lan Qingyou took the little snowy owl downstairs to begin her day's work.

First, of course, was ordering a meal from Gu Xiaobei.

A serving of soy milk and deep-fried dough sticks, plus about half a pound of warg meat—Lan Qingyou and the little snowy owl ate with great relish.

After eating, she went to check on her two little treasures in the wooden barrel and found that the potions had turned back into water.

Upon identification, she found that the Shabby Herb Gathering Bag's capacity had increased from one cubic meter to approximately 1.1 cubic meters, while the Moonlight Stone Dagger remained unchanged.

However, it didn't matter; Lan Qingyou had already prepared herself for this to be a long-term, persistent endeavor.

After pouring out the tasteless water, Lan Qingyou picked up the items she had received from Li Huai yesterday.

Obsidian, about the size of a fist, sixteen pieces in total. It was a bit low in quantity, but since he had risked his life to get them, Lan Qingyou naturally wouldn't turn them away.

She tossed them all into the storage room, intending to take them out for an upgrade once she had a hundred.

Aside from that, there were some herbs.

In Li Huai's words, these were originally intended as interest for the potions.

Interest is fine, but they haven't even been washed...

Lan Qingyou grumbled a bit before she began sorting them.

Having dealt with these herbs for so long, Lan Qingyou could basically recognize what was what at a glance.

"Hmm! This... isn't this a Flame Bell! Between the Volcanic Worm earlier, the Flame Bells now, and the fire toxin he caught, did this guy go fight in some volcano?"

Lan Qingyou muttered as she picked up a cluster of red herbs that closely resembled lilies of the valley.

However, where he went to level up and fight was none of her business; for her, the materials that were useful to her were the most critical.

So, she immediately went to the desk and sent a message to Li Huai.

Lan Qingyou: "Do you have any more Flame Bells?"

Li Huai: "Flame Bells?"

Lan Qingyou: "Those red herbs that look like lilies of the valley."

Li Huai: "Oh, those. I don't have any more on me, but once my injuries heal, I can get you a hundred pounds of them. Consider it compensation for the delay these past few days."

Oh, the injured patient is up this early?

Or did he not sleep at all last night?

Lan Qingyou mused inwardly before sending a reply: "Alright, then get some rest."

Even though she was in a hurry, the man was still recovering; it was impossible to order him around now.

High-end combat power—better to wait until he's healed.

The reason Lan Qingyou was so anxious was that Flame Bells were the primary material for making explosion potions, fire potions, and fire resistance potions.

With those potions in hand, combined with her talent for flying, she could essentially transform into a bomber.

Although she didn't like fighting, if anyone provoked her, she could just hang in the air and rain down explosions to take out the enemy while they couldn't do a thing to her.

As she sorted the herbs, Lan Qingyou happily fantasized about her future as a bomber.

As if sensing Lan Qingyou's good mood, the little snowy owl, which had been pecking at herbs for fun, waddled over to Lan Qingyou and chirped while rubbing against her leg.

"Little chick, are you happy too?"

Seeing the little snowy owl's behavior, although she couldn't feel it through her legs, Lan Qingyou still happily reached out and stroked its round head a few times.

"Chirp chirp chirp!"

"Calling you a chick seems a bit insulting to someone with a B-grade talent. How about I give you a name? Let's call you Steel Wool."

Lan Qingyou talked to herself as she stroked it.

She didn't care whether the little snowy owl understood or not.

In the end, under the little snowy owl's 'wise' gaze, its name was settled just like that.

Well, she couldn't help it; it really did look like a ball of steel wool.

Once she finished these tasks, Lan Qingyou began brewing potions.

It was still Mana Potions.

After all, she now had two major mana-consuming entities to support. If she didn't treat them well, how could she expect them to do her favors later?

Moreover, she realized that almost all the potions she made were being sold, leaving very little for herself.

So, her plan was to sell one-third of the potions she refined daily, keep one-third as a 'strategic reserve,' and use the remaining third to feed the two big shots.

Of course, to be more efficient, Lan Qingyou had specifically purchased two 21-liter stockpots from Shang Chuan.

This way, her daily output could reach a thousand bottles.

Although Shang Chuan had even larger stockpots, Lan Qingyou's alchemy workshop couldn't fit them.

She would have to wait until the next level of expansion.

Just as she had thought before, Lan Qingyou didn't even go to the creek to fetch water anymore; she ordered it directly from Shang Chuan.

When he first received this order, Shang Chuan thought Lan Qingyou had come down with some serious illness.

But at her insistence, Shang Chuan, being a professional merchant, naturally wouldn't refuse business that came knocking on his door.

He then outsourced it to his subordinates.

While this small-scale business didn't earn much, it was better than nothing.

The real profit, of course, was the fact that Lan Qingyou was doing business with him at all.

"Chirp chirp chirp..."

Steel Wool began to cry out. Lan Qingyou looked over and saw the fellow waddling toward her at the entrance of her alchemy workshop.

It chirped as it walked.

"What's wrong, Steel Wool? If you want to play, go play elsewhere. Don't disturb my work."

"Chirp chirp chirp..."

Although Steel Wool was clingy, it usually didn't disturb Lan Qingyou while she was working in the alchemy workshop.

The bird would just play by itself on the empty first floor.

Since it was looking for her now, there was definitely something going on.

"Hmm... so it's mealtime."

Glancing at the clock on the desk, Lan Qingyou understood why Steel Wool had come looking for her, so she immediately called for a delivery from Gu Xiaobei.

In the past, it was always the alarm on the desk from Gu Xiaobei's delivery that called her; now there was a Steel Wool to call her.

It felt quite nice.

While eating, Lan Qingyou checked her shop and found that someone had sent her a trade request.

The request was to trade their 《Magic Creature Lore》 for thirty +50 Mana Potions.

Lan Qingyou naturally welcomed this.

Even though the price had tripled from her initial offer, it didn't matter.

Knowledge was priceless. If someone was willing to sell it, she would buy it; after all, this price wasn't too outrageous.

It was just that she didn't have any +50 potions on hand right now; she would have to wait until she made them tonight to give them to the other party.
