Chapter 40 | Survival for All: The Tower Witch with E-Rank Talent

【Identification Glasses (E)】

【Effect: Can identify items, magic creatures, etc.】

【Description: A good item that helps you quickly understand the situation at any time and any place. Of course, you can also try to learn identification magic and then throw away this thing on your face.】

Hiss—

Lan Qingyou couldn't help but suck in a breath of cold air after clicking on the glasses and seeing their function.

Lan Qingyou: "Name your price."

She immediately sent a message to Shang Chuan. What she lacked most right now was knowledge.

Otherwise, she wouldn't be collecting books like 《Magic Creature Lore》.

If she had this thing, wouldn't many things be much more convenient in the future?

At the very least, she wouldn't have to take everything to the magic desk's small screen for identification every time.

Shang Chuan: "One thousand red and blue potions each, five hundred attribute potions each, and one thousand light potions."

Lan Qingyou was stunned when she saw Shang Chuan's reply.

It wasn't that it was too expensive, but that it was too cheap—so cheap it didn't seem like the price for the functionality of Identification Glasses.

To be honest, even if he had said 'half of your future production,' Lan Qingyou wouldn't have thought he was overcharging.

However, seeing that the glasses were only E-grade, there must be a catch.

Lan Qingyou: "What's the catch?"

She asked straightforwardly.

Shang Chuan: "The glasses only identify based on the wearer's comprehensive knowledge."

Lan Qingyou: "Explain further."

Shang Chuan: "You should know about the [Knowledge] column in your personal information, right?"

Lan Qingyou: "I know it."

Shang Chuan: "If your comprehensive knowledge is E-grade, then the glasses' identification range is also limited to E-grade. Do you understand?"

Lan Qingyou understood immediately.

In the end, knowledge changed everything.

It meant that only with knowledge could the glasses synthesize that information to identify what she saw.

Lan Qingyou: "In that case, your price is a bit high."

Lan Qingyou said after a moment of thought.

Since it required the owner's own knowledge as feedback, in a sense, weren't the glasses almost useless?

Shang Chuan: "Not at all."

Shang Chuan: "Although the Identification Glasses define the identification range based on the wearer's knowledge level, it's only about knowledge."

Lan Qingyou: "What do you mean?"

Shang Chuan: "For example, if the knowledge you've learned is E-grade Alchemy, but you haven't learned other E-grade subjects like Mechanics or Symbology."

Shang Chuan: "The Identification Glasses can help you identify unknown knowledge that matches your Alchemy knowledge level. It can even perform a preliminary identification on higher grades like D or B."

Shang Chuan: "Of course, this identification is very general; it only lets you know roughly whether it's good or bad, without providing precise details."

Now Lan Qingyou completely understood.

Calling these Identification Glasses was less accurate than calling them 'Discernment Glasses.'

Even if she only learned E-grade Herbology, she could identify E-grade mechanical items, and she could barely discern higher-level objects.

Lan Qingyou thought about it and finally decided to take the glasses.

After all, everything in this world was unknown to her. Although these glasses weren't like the 'identification items' from Blue Star stereotypes, they would at least allow her to judge if something was dangerous when she encountered it, giving her enough time and opportunity to run away.

Lan Qingyou: "One thousand each of the red and blue potions. Of those, 200 will be +50 and the rest +30. Two hundred of each attribute potion. You are responsible for providing the test tubes and the base water for brewing. Also, light potions require glowing mushrooms, which I don't have, so you need to provide those too."

Shang Chuan: "Deal, but add 200 bottles of Universal Antidote."

Fine, fine, truly a merchant.

He saw her make the antidote for Li Huai yesterday and came to demand his share today.

Lan Qingyou: "199 bottles, ready-made."

Shang Chuan: "No problem."

So, Lan Qingyou traded the 199 remaining bottles of Apprentice-level Universal Antidote she had prepared for Li Huai yesterday with Shang Chuan for the Identification Glasses.

Delivered along with them were 3,800 empty test tubes.

"In debt again!"

Grabbing Steel Wool and giving it a vigorous petting, Lan Qingyou sighed.

She didn't ask where he got the glasses; after all, channels were a merchant's biggest secret.

After petting the chirping Steel Wool for a while, Lan Qingyou thought about it and finally sent a message to Li Huai, stating that the Mana Potions he needed might take a few days.

Li Huai replied that he was still recovering and a few days' delay was fine.

Once her conversation with Li Huai ended, Lan Qingyou picked up the glasses to examine them closely.

There was nothing special about them; they looked like a pair of perfectly ordinary black-rimmed glasses.

She put them on to test the feeling and found that the entire world seemed to have changed in her eyes.

Windows popped up for objects large and small, containing not only their grades but also some simple descriptions.

Unlike the identification on the magic desk's small screen, these glasses didn't offer any snarky comments.

They were concise and to the point.

"Wait!"

When Lan Qingyou finished her meal and went to the alchemy workshop wearing the glasses to continue brewing potions, two of the windows that popped up in the workshop caught her attention.

【Meteoric Iron Cauldron (Unknown)】

【Effect: Unknown.】

【Description: A cauldron forged from meteoric iron.】

【Meteoric Iron Mortar (Unknown)】

【Effect: Unknown.】

【Description: A mortar forged from meteoric iron.】

Lan Qingyou stared in disbelief.

No way! These two things were actually made of meteoric iron?

Before she could think further, she dove down, grabbed the mortar, flew to the desk, and placed it on the small screen for identification.

While the glasses couldn't identify things higher than her level, the small screen could.

【Deep Sea Meteoric Iron Mortar (C)】

【Effect: Increases the effectiveness of alchemy materials by 50%.】

【Description: The ultimate tool that alchemists dream of, a world-class magic tool recognized by the world will. Whoever owns it enjoys happiness; everyone who has used it says it's good. Unfortunately, after being left idle for a long time, its effect is no longer what it used to be. Perhaps you can try using it frequently to reawaken this sleeping world-class tool.】
