Two undead walked up to Ning Busan and knelt on one knee. “Our King, you have finally returned!”
One of them was a massive bone dragon radiating a chilling aura, while the other was a skeletal knight riding a skeletal warhorse.
Ning Busan introduced them to Lucifer. “They are my right-hand men. Heaven-Shattering and Earth-Devastating, Devourer of Ten Thousand Realms, Lord of the Skeletal Sky—Typhon. And Frozen Land of Eternal Night, Warlord of a Thousand Souls, Eternal Black Blade—Arthas.”
The corner of Lucifer's mouth twitched slightly. “Is every undead's name that long?”
Ning Busan patted Lucifer on the shoulder. “That's just how the Undead Realm is. You'll get used to it.”
Lucifer: “...”
Ning Busan thought helplessly, Like king, like subjects.
Influenced by the Undead King, the other undead had adopted this exact style for their names. Why shouldn't it be considered a racial culture?
“My King, we actually sensed your awakening long ago. It was this fellow—neither demon nor angel—who stopped us and wouldn't let us get near you!” Arthas said indignantly, pointing at Lucifer.
Lucifer's gaze was arrogant and filled with disgust. “You lost because of your lack of skill, yet you still have the nerve to complain?”
“Stop—both of you!” Ning Busan interrupted, then asked Arthas, “Have you all been cultivating the power of chaos?”
Arthas nodded. “Yes.”
Typhon said through gritted teeth, “It's all that liar's fault!”
Ning Busan raised an eyebrow. “Liar?”
He seemed to already know who it was.
Typhon said, “The cultivation of the undead relies on death energy, requiring us to slowly accumulate power on our own. But that human brought another cultivation method that allowed our power to grow rapidly.”
Ning Busan asked, “And you believed him?”
“...We did,” Arthas said, looking thoroughly ashamed.
Ning Busan pressed his hand to his forehead.
How gullible!
How could they believe that free lunches just fell from the sky?
Ning Busan asked, “What happened next?”
Arthas said, “Many undead began cultivating the power of chaos exactly as he taught. But before long, we discovered that the power of chaos would devour all other energies. We could no longer absorb death energy.”
The soulfire in Typhon's eyes flared wildly. “Most infuriatingly, he actually stole the soul core you left behind!”
Ning Busan could easily imagine how absolutely furious they must have been at the time.
“Later, he fled to the human world, and we couldn't find any trace of him,” Typhon said. “By the time he finally showed himself again, if you hadn't stopped us, we would have gone to the human world and torn him into ten thousand pieces!”
Ning Busan cleared his throat. “Though cultivating the power of chaos isn't the orthodox path, you have indeed become stronger. Since this reality cannot be changed, you might as well continue cultivating it.”
“As for the soul core, it has already returned to me, so we shall let bygones be bygones.”
Although Typhon was unwilling, he still grunted, “Understood!”
Lucifer looked at Ning Busan and asked, “You aren't planning to cultivate the power of chaos as well, are you?”
Ning Busan shook his head. “Of course not.”
If he cultivated the power of chaos, his body would only contain that power, and all other energies would be devoured.
For Ning Busan, there was absolutely no need for that.
Ning Busan said to Arthas, “Have those who cultivate the power of chaos stay, and let the rest disperse.”
Arthas bowed his head. “As you command, my King!”
Ning Busan was brimming with fighting spirit!
These were all ready-made sparring partners!
Whether it was these undead or Lucifer, in a simple one-on-one contest of strength, they were certainly no match for Ning Busan.
However, Ning Busan's future opponent was that entity in the Ruins Beyond the Boundary. Thus, what he needed to study now was how to counter the devouring law of the power of chaos.
Through his relentless efforts over the past few days, Ning Busan had actually found two ways to counter chaos. However...
Neither was very feasible.
The first method was to sacrifice his emotions and memories, using absolute rationality to condense laws and open up a stable domain within the chaos, granting direct immunity to devouring and attacks.
Ning Busan would have to be insane to do that.
The God of Light was constantly watching, wishing nothing more than for rationality to become the dominant personality of this body.
That left only the second method: if you can't beat them, join them. He could cultivate the power of chaos himself and use chaos to fight chaos.
But Ning Busan had a dream.
In the dream, he was standing on a lake.
Ning Busan looked down and saw another version of himself beneath the water.
That version's eyes were a deep, abyssal black. His left eye burned with the dying embers of creation, while his right eye reflected the void of the end.
He was wrapped in both the breath of life and destruction, with a vast expanse of chaos behind him.
He stared at Ning Busan, just as Ning Busan stared at him.
Then, he slowly reached out his hand toward Ning Busan.
Ning Busan woke up with a start, the soulfire in his eye sockets flickering erratically.
It seemed the God of Light hadn't lied to him; the divinity of the Silver-Crowned God was truly beginning to awaken.
This was definitely not a good thing.
Recalling the scene in the lake, a sudden shock went through Ning Busan's heart.
Wasn't the Silver-Crowned God also born from chaos?
If he cultivated the power of chaos, would it accelerate the complete awakening of his divinity?
Ning Busan's head throbbed.
No, he didn't want to be an undead anymore.
Every time he tried to think, he felt like he didn't have enough brainpower.
Ning Busan crawled out from under his tombstone and saw Lucifer with an uncontrollable smile on his face.
Ning Busan couldn't help but ask, “What is it? Did something good happen?”
Lucifer held out his hand. “Look what I caught.”
Ning Busan looked down and was dumbfounded.
Why was his son here?
Lucifer dangled Lobao and said, “This little thing looks exactly like you, and I really couldn't see through his disguise. He's a bit fierce, but he's quite fun.”
Ning Busan said flatly, “That is my son.”
Lucifer fell silent.
He would rather believe he had misheard than accept this reality.
Now that Lobao had a backer, his confidence instantly soared. He struggled out of Lucifer's grasp, flew up to perch on Ning Busan's shoulder, and fluttered his little wings, shouting cockily at Lucifer:
“So what if you have a lot of wings? Try touching me again and see what happens! Do you believe I'll—”
Ning Busan's brow furrowed deeply. He swiftly covered Lobao's mouth and asked, suppressing his anger, “Who taught you to speak like that?”
Instead of learning anything good, he only picked up the bad!
Lobao, completely oblivious to Ning Busan's anger, puffed out his chest proudly. “Uncle Leo taught me!”
“Uncle Leo? You're already calling him uncle!” Ning Busan asked sourly, “Since when did you two get so close?”
“That's obviously because I'm handsome! Didn't you know your son is a sucker for good looks?” a lazy voice chimed in.
Ning Busan's brow twitched.
A teleportation array suddenly appeared beside the tombstone, and a figure slowly stepped out.
He wore a gorgeous, luxurious outfit, with a silk belt inlaid with dark-patterned silver buckles tied around his waist, accentuating his tall and elegant figure. His slender fingers were adorned with several gemstone rings of various designs.
His golden hair was tied back in an elegant low ponytail, with a few unruly strands falling across his forehead, adding a touch of wild charm.
Ning Busan's evaluation: Even better at acting cool than the God of Light!
