Seeing this, Su Qing flicked her tongue.
There is no kindness in the world without a reason.
Especially from these men she had just met.
Although Senior Brother Liu Yingtong had been nice to her before, it was largely due to the Master's orders.
If the Master hadn't made the arrangements...
His attitude would likely have been the same as the other senior brothers and sisters—friendly, but not particularly close.
After all, they had just met.
Seeing that Su Qing already knew they wanted to ask for a favor, the burly men were quite embarrassed.
"Actually, we were hoping that when you're not using the sparrows, you could let them come over and chat with us."
"We brothers get pretty bored on a daily basis. And we can't just chat freely with the monastery's disciples..."
"So when we saw that your sparrows had gained intelligence, we came up with this idea."
Hearing this, Su Qing roughly understood the situation.
Although she found it amusing, Su Qing didn't laugh at them.
Su Qing flicked her tongue and nodded slightly, considering it a way to form a good connection.
"I don't mind... but they aren't my pets. Whether they're willing to come or not is not something I can control."
The men were stunned for a moment upon hearing this, then nodded slightly.
They then began to coax the little sparrows.
A short while later...
The dazed little sparrows were tricked by a grand feast of grains and insects.
Su Qing flicked her tongue...
It was a good thing this was in Bodhi's monastery. If they were outside, wouldn't these little ones be tricked into becoming emergency rations?
I'll have to educate these little ones more in the future.
Soon.
Su Qing finished her mutton, and the little sparrows followed her back.
Right now, Su Qing still needed their help, so she naturally couldn't let the little sparrows go off to play with those burly men.
However, with these men looking after them.
When she was in class, the little sparrows...
Perhaps they wouldn't be so bored anymore?
After Su Qing left.
Bodhi walked into the dining hall and asked about what had just happened.
The men did not hide anything.
They knew none of their actions could be hidden from the Old Ancestor.
After listening, the Old Ancestor stroked his beard and said:
"I do not know what your plans are, nor will I interfere, but do not bring harm to those little creatures."
Hearing this, the men hurriedly said:
"We wouldn't dare!"
Patriarch Bodhi nodded slightly, turned, and vanished.
No one knew what purpose the Old Ancestor had in coming here.
Su Qing returned to her courtyard.
Looking at the pile of books from yesterday, she had an idea.
Although she had no hands and couldn't conveniently turn the pages, didn't she have the sparrows?
Having them help open the books wasn't difficult at all.
Soon, with the sparrows' help.
Su Qing was finally able to read.
The content of these books was vast and profound, and Su Qing couldn't understand most of it.
But even though she couldn't understand, Su Qing patiently read through them.
If she had the chance later, she could ask her senior brothers and sisters, or her Master, and then she would understand.
Although Su Qing was usually lazy, she did not slack off when it came to cultivation and learning.
Time passed quickly.
In the blink of an eye, it was the next day.
Su Qing arrived at the lecture hall early in the morning.
She coiled there obediently, waiting for Bodhi to arrive and teach.
The other disciples arrived one after another, sitting on their cushions and conversing in low voices.
Everyone naturally noticed Su Qing; after all, she was such a large coil.
But since Su Qing didn't speak with them, they didn't know how to start a conversation with her.
So they had to ignore her for the time being, and everything proceeded as usual.
Soon, Bodhi also arrived.
This morning's lecture began.
This routine continued day after day.
Time passed by in this uneventful manner.
Everyone in the monastery grew accustomed to seeing a green snake coiled to the side of the great hall, listening to the lecture, every time Bodhi taught.
And as everyone became more familiar, many disciples also became friends with Su Qing.
They would occasionally help her understand content she couldn't grasp.
This allowed Su Qing to progress much faster.
As for the little sparrows that always followed Su Qing.
Every time Su Qing was in class, they would run off to the dining hall.
Unwittingly, the sparrows became well-acquainted with the men in the dining hall.
And they also got quite a bit fatter...
Every night when they landed on her head to sleep, Su Qing felt they were much heavier.
Without a doubt, those men had really been feeding these little ones a lot of good things.
Su Qing didn't know whether to laugh or cry about this.
She had thought they were just coaxing the little ones, but she never expected them to be fattened up like this.
Are they raising them like orange cats?
It would be hilarious if they kept feeding them until they couldn't fly anymore.
However, despite her exasperation, Su Qing was also quite relieved.
If the little sparrows were fat, then so be it. They were cute this way...
And from the looks of it, they weren't unhappy at all.
This was good enough.
As long as they didn't really become unable to fly.
"Little ones, winter is here. I have to go to sleep."
Although Su Qing had been diligently cultivating recently, it was becoming a bit of a struggle.
The weather was getting colder and colder, and Su Qing's instinct to hibernate grew stronger.
"Big green snake, are you going to hibernate?"
"That's right, I have to hibernate," Su Qing said with a smile. "While I'm hibernating, you're not allowed to cause trouble in the monastery."
"We won't!" the little sparrows chirped.
Su Qing flicked her tongue, looking at them with amusement as she said:
"Also, don't always eat so much. Be careful or you'll get too fat to fly."
"We won't! We won't!"
"Who is it that has to stop and rest after flying for just a few minutes now?" Su Qing asked, looking at the sparrow who had just protested.
The little one immediately fell silent.
Su Qing shook her head and didn't say any more to the little ones.
After lecturing the little ones, Su Qing went to see Bodhi.
She informed him that she was going to hibernate.
Bodhi was very understanding and told Su Qing to hibernate in peace.
After everything was settled.
Su Qing subconsciously wanted to dig a hole in her room to hibernate in.
But in the end, she resisted the urge.
After all, she would still be living here after she transformed into a human!
If there was a hole here then... it would be somewhat unsettling.
Su Qing soon entered the dreamland of hibernation.
The winter was long.
Without Su Qing's company, the little sparrows naturally roamed around the monastery.
Unwittingly, the little sparrows not only became the darlings of the dining hall.
But also the darlings of the entire monastery.
Who wouldn't love a flock of chubby little sparrows?
In a flash.
Winter passed.
Su Qing opened her eyes. A spring rain was falling outside.
The sparrows were sleeping on her head as usual.
But as she moved, they tumbled off with a roll.
Su Qing raised her head and looked at the chubby sparrows on the ground.
She couldn't help but flick her tongue.
Well, now they probably really can't fly, can they?
"However, the spiritual energy of these little ones is more abundant. Although their cultivation level hasn't increased, their lifespan should have been extended a bit. I suppose they can accompany me for longer now..."
Su Qing flicked her tongue.
She had never forgotten that all life has an end.
She just preferred not to dwell on it.
